best american player at 19yrs

Irving Crane was banned from playing in local tournaments when he was 18 years old because nobody could beat him. He was playing at world class level not long after that.

Keith was an incredible shotmaker when he was 19, the likes of which I have not witnessed since then.

If he got out of line, he would just bank the ball the length of the table to maintain his position.

And, bank the cue ball into an object ball in the center of the table, not to play safe, but to make it! And he would make it and run out from there.

I heard he ran 13 racks of nine ball on a bar table against Joe Salazar, but 27 racks is a little unbelievable.

I'll tell you why it's not unbelieveable to me, Danny. I was in with Bill Stack getting the 7 ball from Clyde Childress in 1975. Out of the gate, Clyde puts a 14 on us and might have run more had we not tapped out.

Clyde was a damn good player but nothing close to the way Keith played at that same time period. If Keith or others that saw him play say he ran X amout of racks and the numbers are the same, I would tend to believe them.

Keith is a piece of work, I mean that in a good way as a complement to him, I was at the pool room last night watching 2 guys who are around 20 play and while they both play better than I ever have, they arnt like Keith he was one of a kind, I have seen him in action-the more $$ the better he played, the oppsite of alot of guys.

Archer was running 6 packs at 17 years old from time to time, and 5 packs regularly this was when he wa playing in Ga and wasnt well known he told me. I believe him.
