Out of the big three, I like billiards digest the best. I just got a subscription last week.

I am curious which magazine is the most popular...
Where's the "none" option? :-) (I'll leave aside having a multiple-choice answer set for a "best" question...)

Inside pool is cool but I got a subscription about a year ago and I have never seen a single issue through the mail. So delivery wise, they suck. Billiard Digest is tops on my list.

I voted Billiard digest, because they at least send me my subscription.

I have over 2 years left on Inside pool, and haven't seen one in months...
They use to be the best in my book, but I need to get them to be sure.

I had to pick 2. It is probably not for the right reasons. Inside Pool for regional coverage and BD, because I like their articles and the fact that they put in pics of my AZB family members. ;) I should have just picked all three since P&B actually quoted me in their December issue...I know big Whuppeedooo! LOL

Inside Pool is a great magazine............ when I actually get it.

I agree. I think it is the best for the players. Sally and JR do a great job of really showing the players and the events.. I wish that the magazine was on time and that there was not so much controversy surrounding them.. IP has always been my magazine of choice.

I miss staff writer at BD, Ruth W. who left a few months back. She was a huge asset to BD and will be missed.

I voted BD. I use to have a script. Saved all my old ones. Still pick one up from time 2 time at the one local pool hall that has them. How come
Playboy "Book of Lingerie" was not on the list?:D

I got my March issue over a week ago --- and its mailed to griz country at the bottom of the food chain for any product delivery. (The Fed Ex lady refused to delivery my stuff this winter - don't know why - the grizzs aren't in my hay field in the winter - so she wasn't on their short list :D ). InsidePool's toll free number is 866-961-7665. E-mail is info@insidepoolmag.com. Maybe with all the hoop la from last year settling down you can get it fixed - the staff has all been very helpful to me when I have discussed my subscriptions and extra copies of mag.

I had trouble with Inside at the beginning of my subscription. They have been very reliable since. I wasn't going to renew but got a call from them and took the 3 year package. Hope it wasn't a mistake. I got burn by ON the Snap years ago.

LOL.. hope I didn't get burned as well... I think I got a 2 year subscription to Inside Pool. I like the glossy pages.. :p

Billiards Digest is IMO the best for the brilliant research done on great players of the past. And, the first thing I usually do is read George Fels' "Tips and Shafts".

Tournament coverage is just about average for all rags. Nothing beats being there and seeing it first hand.

It's getting to be a rubber stamp for reporting on tournament. It's all about the top 4 places and hardly any info on the rest of the field. Why they don't do side bars on the action and Fans is beyond me.

Inside Pool gets an edge in pictures.

I haven't read or even seen a copy of Pool and Billiards in 3 or 4 years.

I would vote for Inside Pool, its just that I've pretty much given up on them as far as delivery is concerned. I just take advantage at the expo every year now and rack up on the entire years worth of back issues anyways. That's as much as I got when I went up to them 2 times saying that I never recieve my issues, they just say "ok, here's a bunch from this year"...meanwhile everyone's taking them whether they actually paid for their subscription or not. Therefore I'd go with Pool & Billiards. Never really like the coverage in BD.

All the magazines can cover the big events. For a while there Inside Pool had garnered the corner on posting about the more local Regional Tours and events that MOST readers really would like to hear about, IMO.

Then BD got the idea from IP and is competing for that section. Unfortunately, Pool and Billiards still has to get a clue. Sorry Jerry F if you're reading this, but P&B was the first pool mag I ever subscribed to and used to read to cover to cover. And for sentimental reasons, I always will subscribe to P&B (because I got my name in for the 2nd tourny I ever played in and I was thrilled!!). But I have yet to see, since about 4 years ago, any results for the local and Regional Tours like they are covered in BD and IP. JMO

Around here, we have two regional pool newspapers that do a pretty good job of covering events down to the weekly room events. Because of this, I have no use for local news in a national magazine.

Isn't there any regional pool newpaper in your area?

I like Billiards Digest because of the R. A. Dyer "Untold Stories" feature, and because the owner of the room I hang out in has always had an extra copy available for us to read and I've always liked their stuff. Glad to see the info cuz I've been thinking of subscribing to Inside Pool and will now do a little more digging before I pull the trigger. I subscribed to a poker mag that is just like what people were describing about Inside Pool; great mag IF I ever got it in the mail. If anyone hasn't read the "Untold Stories" articles, they are available on the Billiards Digest website; they are terrific.

I'm a little less than 2 hrs from Barbara and as far as I know, there's nothing remotely close to a regional paper in this area.

Does anyone on here know of any on the East Coast at all?

None. We had one and then it got taken over and then it was a bit less regional and then that was taken over by IP!!
