Ray Schuler with a super constant shaft and one piece phenolic tip-ferrule.

Of course Ray is no longer with us, he built one heck of a cue.

A mace j/b by Rick Howard is also a good cue for breaking.

Denali break cues

Here is a post from the "Cue Gallery" posted by henchman3. This cue weighs 17.5 oz's. Thanks Larry.

"Got it yesterday, Played last night and all I can say is WOW, its so light but hits so dam hard and very easy to keep the Q ball in the center of the table. Thanks so much and IMHO the best breaker out there and Ive had a few".

Tried most of the popular ones, ended up with the Gulyassy anvil...

is there a point to this thread or is it just for fun? Are you looking to purchase a break cue?

I'm currently in the process of ordering a custom Anvil at Mike's. But I have to say I tested many break cues, including Sledgehammer, BK2, X-breaker... I have to admit that I hit the balls with more precision with a BK2 because of the taper. But I generated most power in the Mezz PBII with DI shaft. I remember much to Charlie Bryant's own breaks, I generated that much power at one point that the cue ball made a vertical (straight upwards) leap of about 6 (!!!) feet. It landed, bounced a bit until it hopped off the table. Anyways just saying, that I achieved my most powerful break ever with that cue, you have to be willing to settle with a shorter length break cue though.

Good Value for the money spent is the Joss Thor Hammer's and the Pechauer Break Cues. If your tighter on the budget, Gulyassy's orange crusher and Mcdermott's NG-02 is ok. If you can spend a little more, go to a Mike Erwin handmade purple heart signature series break cue. It comes with a purple heart shaft and white diamond break tip. Pretty darn good. These range in that $ 225.00 to $ 350.00 range. The NG-02 & Gulyassy Anvil are jump break cues and my opinion only is that one solid cue for breaking is pretty tough to beat on a continous basis. All are good though.

Jacoby is designed ( to hold the cue correctly

From the butt! Laminated shaft- Use a flat tip, all centerball. Jimmy Wetch has been using the break Cue for 2 Months. He has used it in several Money games- he's up 3,$ with it. He sold the Preditor breaker,no regrets!!! Mark
