so tell me in your humble opinion whats the best break cue for you

breaker

An old j&j. Eighty dollars and sweet. I think it is the slightly thinner grip that makes it a winner for me.

I've tried most of the break cues on the market and tend to think that a break cue might be a little overrated. I had an inexpensive cue with a predator shaft that broke as well as anything else I tried. The only issue was that the layered tip wore down very quickly.

The rack is probably the most important part of a good break. Buy a copy of Joe Tuckers racking secrets and train yourself to hit the head ball square.

I would like to see the Racking Secrets, I hear it's pretty informative and definitely helps. I agree with some of what you say here but I think there is an argument for both sides. I play with a guy who has a break like a sledgehammer, he can absolutely smash the balls. I'm amazed at this. He can do this with a cheap house cue or a high dollar break cue.
I don't have a thunderbolt break or even a powerful one to be honest. So, in my experience, when I break with a cheap house cue it tends to be worse than when I break with a good, solid break cue....I think a great break cue can certainly help some players like myself have a better break while others just don't need it....However, when you have an awesome break plus a high dollar break cue I think you have a lethal combo......

Subjective. I currently use Mike Gullyassy's Orange Crusher. When he had the AZ member deal for $125 I jumped on it. You can get it the weight you want and it has Mike's Shaft Freeze on it.

Even though I don't own one yet, the Poison Break Cue was everything I wanted.

I think Fury makes a Break-only cue, but I haven't tried it.

Oh, yes..

I meant to put what's worked best for me, the Jacoby Edge. Love it.

I have had a lot of break cues, but recently I just got the players all black jump break and got seyberts to put a white diamond on it. Thing breaks just as good as anything I ever owned, and its under $90!!

to each his/her own. I bought a dreadnought of a cue a little over a year ago. 2500 PHP. 23.25 oz's. Solid philippine ebony from the joint down. HEAVY. Put a standard brunswick blue diamond tip on the cue...and wasn't impressed for the few first months. But the tip has compacted and gotten hard. Now I can sling it like a lite break cue but with all that inertia. The ball's dance all over the table.

I've said it before but I don't mind saying it again. I have a Predator BK2 and I love it. A good break cue really does make a significant difference for the better in the results of the break shot.

My best break cue ever...which was stolen...

I ordered a sneaky pete type break cue from a well-known cuemaker. Standard stuff - 58" - 20 oz. - 13 mm shaft. When he gave it to me it was 60"...which I said I couldn't take that...which he said it would cost me to take an inch off the butt and an inch off the shaft. He agreed to take 2" off the shaft for free...thanks a lot. I was a bit miffed. Until I used it as a break cue - WOW!! - stiff as a brick and hit like a truck without much effort at all.

I had that cue and an ordinary McDermott cue in a Jack Justis case...with my name on it...stolen and never saw it again.

Saving up for this...
