Best Break Cues

What little I've used it, since I very, very seldom play blast-break games anymore, I like my Gulyassy Orange Crusher a lot. 18 1/2 oz with Samsara break tip.
I like this better than the early Sledghammer I had previously.
I'm not sure if Mike is still making these.

still looking....

I have a Diviney ebony jump/break with a 30" 13mm Lake Salvage shaft and had him fit a 29" 13mm Dymonwood shaft to it that is stiff and heavy and put a flat break tip on it.

It is still new to me, but I can't move it as fast as I can with the Lake Salvage shaft, yet it seems to spread the balls well. I think this break cue stuff is over rated for the average player.

Best Break Cue

Tight rack and a well placed cue ball hit with just about anything.

Having said, I use a BK3 :)

I've liked both breakers I have used. Rage 25 oz J/B and the old OB break cue, spread the rack well with both of them. Hell, I even like breaking with my Viking shooter cue. I'd honestly go custom around 16 oz with a stiff shaft and a samasara tip if I could afford it. The only thing I feel makes a difference in my break is the weight of the stick, lighter the better.

I have a Mace by Rick Howard that is old. I have tried others but seem to end up with this one in my case.

If I am breaking the 2nd ball break in 8 ball I use my playing cue but for everything else its the Mace.

I have always thought technology and the overall age of my cue would make it less effective but it seems to jump and break as good as the others. There are probably some jumpers out there that jump better. I think that has to be the case with technology and new tips etc.

Of course it could be that I just suck at breaking and can not tell the difference. :embarrassed2:

Been using a BK2 for a couple of years now. IMO, the tip makes a huge difference. Taom was pretty good until it shattered, Samsara is a great break tip when installed correctly. White diamond is right up there with Samsara. I've been using the Outsville Hammerhead the past few months and I'm loving it so far. I've had a few BK3's pass through my hands... I just don't like them. They break great, better energy transfer than the BK2. But I just can't stand they way they feel. The break cue you currently have is one of the best I've tried, You should experiment with different tips before dropping hundreds of dollars on another cue.

If you're unsatisfied with the results you're getting with your break, look at your technique. At the end of the day, the cue only does what you tell it to. Buying the equipment alone isn't going to magically get you the results you're looking for, that only comes from putting in the hard work.

I have hands slightly bigger than a medium size and there is no way in hell i can break close grip with a 14mm shaft.
13mm is plenty stiff if you do the taper right in my opinion.

I have average sized hands, and in the 90s my player was a Schon with a 14mm shaft. Seems weird at first, but I adjusted quickly.

Samsara break jump. Quality built in USA with 2 Unilock quick release joints, dart handle and leather wrap and Samsara break tip.

My suggestion is to keep what you have which is a very good cue and use the money you save to get a lesson from a good instructor making sure to tell them about your health issues so they can help you adapt.

I guess it's the twisting of doing it thousands of times with a lot of force. Probably some cartilage between the vertebrae worn out. I don't think the body was intended for that much repetition with force.

Oh I've considered that thought many times. If I do keep it I'd concentrate on finding the correct weight to do the most damage. That's another tricky thing to determine.

cue

24 oz Jacoby Heavy Hitter it shatters the balls I have tears on my shoulders and this thing drives by it self with not much effort but that's only my opinion.

I have a 24 Oz. Joss Boss from many, many years ago. I prefer to use a lighter cue today, Gulyassy Orange Crusher, 18 1/2 Oz.

I just picked up a Diveney break cue and with working on my form has been a monster breaker. Also, used my buddies BK2 and it was excellent as well.

Like tons of people mentioned 100 times before, practice practice practice will provide more benefit than which break cue is best..

I have a Mezz and just got a Lomax ,, I like both but the Mezz might hold its value pretty good but not like the Lomax will if I put it up Forsale here it will sell in minuts

Shane has it...

Shane has the best break cue and I wish he would give it to me along with some free lessons. I have a good one, but it sure don't work as good as his.
