I own several j/b cues including a new Steve Lomax that I haven't hit a ball with yet, Ernie Martinez, Stinger, Showcase, just sold a Kikel.
My current j/b is a Poison VX2.9 with a Venom shaft and a Samsara j/b tip that seems to work very well.
I also like the Stingers, but mine is an old one, probably an original.

I have a custom jumpbreak that I made from a full splice blank using an old weigh system at the break jump joint that allow u to add 1oz or 2 oz extra depending on how you break.

Check it out here:
Custom 5/16-14 CM98 Jump/Break: $125 shipped.
Butt: 14.60oz with 1 oz added, can be 15.60 or 13.60oz
Shaft: 4.69oz, 13.65mm

Break solid and jump really easy!

It's the 5th cue from the left. If interested send me a PM.

I have used Teds Poison break cue several times and it flat out crushes the rack.

FWIW - I tried a stinger and HATED it. It felt too light, and kinda hollow when you hit it or something.

Traded up to a pechauer power break and it was love at first snap.

I posted a review here in this section.

Retails around 275, but there is a lightly used one in the fs section for 225.

I break around 24mph, and never got the Stinger over 20. Got my power back with the pechauer and better control than my old MCd jump break I had previous.

Just get you a players J/B and put a phenolic ferrule/tip combo and you won't go wrong for under 200.

Or billiardwarehouse has some great J/B's for the price.

I used a players with a phenolic tip on it for a long time and I can break the balls pretty well on a bar box and not to bad on the big table as well. I am getting a lot better cue ball control plus I dont have to worry about if anything every happens to it. I already have a crack in the very bottom of the butt.

hey all im a newbie on the site. i do not know much about different cues, but do know that when i am practicing a lot the poison vx 2.9 jump break is effective. i use the predator air for high jumps and the poison for the rest and am satisfied with the result.

Hi,

I've had a buffalo j/b, bk2, and my current J&J which cost
me $50 new. Had a Samsara J/B tip put on it and it squats
the rock just right and makes jumping a treat. The BK2
breaks better but I'm not a big fan of phenolic tips anyway.
