Best Celebrity pool players -- who are they?

Keone Young, the guy who plays Mr. Wu on DEADWOOD, is a pretty knowledgable one pocket player and a good friend of Danny DiLiberto.

There was a celebrity pool TV show a while back, but no one on it really knew how to play at all. I was horribly out of stroke and I still won it easy.
I hadn't hit a ball in many years, but just playing on that show got me back into it again. I wound up buying one of the Diamond's that they used on the IPT and just having that in my house has kept me somewhat in stroke.

Now days I'm pretty busy, but I get a few games against the ghost in my living room when I can squeeze them in.
I've been working on some sort of pool show for spike that they're interested in, it's just a matter of putting together the production.

Sounds great Joe. Glad to see you involved in the sport. My son listens to your blog and was surprised when I told him you played pool and come on AZ Billiards forum. I played the famous "Earl" skit you did for him and he's even a bigger fan now. If you need a technical advisor for your show, I can hook you up with Danny DiLiberto. He could use the work and he's about as knowledgeable as they come.

I would say Willie Nelson simple- here a picture and an article from his book "Willie" published 1988. Also in an old Snap magazine, Texas issue, there an article about Willie receiving pool instruction.

Another person would be James Garner

In 1991, Garner starred in Man of the People, a television series about a con man chosen to fill an empty seat on a city council, with Kate Mulgrew and Corinne Bohrer. Despite reasonably fair ratings, the show was canceled after only 10 episodes

Here anepoisodes from the series: http://www.totallykate.com/mopeopl1/manpeopl.htm

Pro Golfer "John Daly"

I hear that Arkansas native, pro golfer John Daly will bet it up on the pool table from time to time, never seen him play, prolly a good banger, but guess he likes to gamble at it sometimes.

Hardly. Check out some of Jay's stories about Fats. He could play plenty.

The myth that he couldn't play has been told for years by people who should know better.

Dale<who saw him, once upon a time>

Garsh , pdcue , that's a myth he started HIMSELF to rope opponents into playin' !

I can't shoot a lick , either . . . . .

Here's a picture of Fred Astaire, his son and a dapper young Danny DiLiberto. Danny told me that he and Fred were friends back in the day and Fred used to come watch him play in tournaments.

That's Fred Astaire's son? I would of sworn that was a young Pete Margo.

Another Golfer

One of the best golfers that play is Fuzzy Zeller. A little better than average I was told, but he gets the other golfers money!!

Lee Trevino played a little pool around the Dallas poolrooms back in the 60's. Not that good but knew how to match up. He was smart enough to always insist on getting the break and 2-1 on the money. He beat some decent shortstops with that game.
