Bar owner owns 3 tables lots of APA leagues + players use
recovers 3+ year!
.50$ a rack free 1-4 M to Fri use 3 bar tables lots of use!!!!
She asked me about cloth I told her to call the guy who does Drexeline's tables(John Lynch) and ask him about "simonis"

We play our states on "simonis" in Delaware(pockets) and in Vegas they use it also!
I said cost more but will last longer?
All the players would they like this better? yes or no?
question what would you recommend for cloth in this environment?
spills bangers etc.
thanks

The APA actually uses Mercury Ultra in Las Vegas.

I dont really know much about durability of the Simonis but I am sure someone will chime in!

If you remember from singles, there was a logo on the top (or bottom) rail for Mercury Ultra. It was the orange and white stitched logo.

the longest lasting cloth that I ever used was Championship Tour Edition. I experimented with several different brands/types of cloth, but never used Simonis.

Tour Edition is still going strong after over 8,000 plays on the counter. I figure that is an excellent return on the investment.

the only drawback on Tour Edition is lots of players gripe about its speed. the stuff is fast and bangers can't figure it out. good players adjust; bangers just "fuss".

Thanks for input!
I suggested she try a fast clothe like simonis on 1 table but she said all or nothing players will bust on her either to or not play on that table!
I say that will settle things quick!
The maintence issue is a big deal here!
ie. spills, burns, bangers etc. not often but it is there!

Other than the inevitable hole at the foot spot, the Simonis on my local bar table has worn like iron and cleaned up well.

Simonis on a bar table although nice will not hold up. :indecisive:
You need something with teflon for spills
Champion tour works well:yeah:

I haven't spent all this time testing and retesting the Simonis 860HR for nothing;) We changed the shaving process in order to leave a 100% wool surface on the cloth to help prevent the ball marks and break lines. Normal 860 is 90% wool, 10% nylon. Championship 3030 is 70% wool, 30% nylon. Now if you want to compare 860HR with Championship, you can...apples to apples and oranges to oranges. The 860HR is NOT going to speed up over time, nor slow down. I've worked with Simonis to develop this HR cloth for BAR TABLES first, then all other tables second. It IS the cloth I'd recommend for bar tables, and my history of recovering bar tables at my peak of recovering days was about 1,000 tables a year, so I know what I'm talking about;)

I'll second Glens recommendation.
860HR - first choice
3030 Tour Edition - second choice
4045 Valley Ultra Teflon - third choice
* 4045 is the std cloth on NIB Valley tables, costs less than the other 2 but will need
to be changed more frequently in a high volume environment.

Can't help you with idiots that don't respect equipment.
Tighening up the rules for table play might help.

Raise the price of playing to .75cents a game, use the extra quarter to change the cloth sooner. Having bangers is not a bad thing, they're worth money, and sometimes changing the cloth sooner is just the cost of doing business. For spills, you could always clean the cloth with woolite and water on a tightly wrung out rag.

Drinks pay for the low pool price!
Owner was not complaining, I suggested simonis and another installer to her and told her I would try to find out more about best way to go!
She is going to also talk to installer for prices and recommendations
then she will make decision!
I would like her to use faster cloth as when we go to higher level tournaments that is what they have!

The 3 tables are owned outright!
Thank you all and Patrick for Pm
