Back in the middle and late 20th century there were some great Gold Crown billiard halls built in many of the colleges in the midwest and assuridly elsewhere, any come to mind (CocoCowboys recent post got me thinking) that had great action and history. I do remember playing in the Midwest regional finals in 69 at IU, the pool room was part of the bowling alley and had no separation between us and the bowlers. I do remember U of I in Champaign having an interesting Large 9' GC pool room. Back then Brunswick made some good house cues also, and the table time at school was nothing compared to the local rooms.
