Best Comeback in a Match of All Time?

I'm thinking of two that might be the best- one was when Nick Varner was down 9-2 and corner hooked in the semi-finals of the US Open, or Efren's comeback against Earl in TCOM, being down 17 games, and breaking and running roughly 20 out of 30 racks in the last tape.

Does anyone else know of any famous comebacks in a BIG tournament, like the US Open, WPC, etc.

Efren vs. Allen Hopkins, in this year's BCA pro tournament. Efren was down 10-0, with Allen on the hill. Efren came back to win 11-10, keeping Hopkins in the chair for almost the rest of the match!

I saw a pretty good come back between Steve Moore and Buddy Hall once. I had a little sweat bet on buddy of course in this race to 9. Turns out Steve was running away with the set and had a commanding 8 to 1 lead. I sadly dug into my pocket and paid off my bet as I felt the set was over. Next thing I know Buddy wins 9 to 8. Lesson learned. Never pay off until it's officially over.

My favorite is Dennis Hatch / Larry Hubbart. Dennis 10 - 0. Hubbart wins 11 - 10. Can't remember which tournament. Must have been twenty five years ago. Old age has set in.

was on the road with hemmah in idaho. san tourango(sp) had dave stuck 8-0. dave came back to win 9-8.

Efren's comeback from 10-0 against Hopkins in this year's BCA pro event has already mentioned, but for me, the most memorable comeback in a premier event occurred when Chia Chang Wu came to the table down 16-12 in a race to 17 at the 2005 WPC and saw to it that Po Cheng Kuo would not see the table again by running out the match.

The best comeback in the history of the billiards world, would have to be Dennis Taylor vs. Steve Davis in the 1985 World Snooker Championship. He trailed something like 7-0 by the end of the first session, (a huge deficit in snooker, even greater than in nine-ball or eight-ball). Taylor came back and won 18-17 on the black ball. It was a real cinderella story.

Alex Pagualyan's performance at 2004 WPC was quite impressive as well. Raj Hundal's win against Rodney Morris in the 2005 WPM can't be forgotten in this discussion either.

Finally wasn't Thorsten trailing Max Eberle at the World 14.1 Championships 177-26? Everyone must have thought Max had it in the bag until Thorsten ran 174 and out. That's a pretty nifty comeback.

Hohmann's run of 174 and out came against John Schmidt.

That 177 for Schmidt is way off too. I think the Eberle/Harriman match may have turned at 177 possibly.

No. The Harriman / Eberle match was pretty much neck-and-neck the entire way -- neither ever got much of a lead until Max ran 127-and-out (actually the run ended a few balls early. Max was clearing out the last rack and was in stroke when Harriman threw in the towel and gave his congratulations).
