What's the best cue case size in your opinion?

1 x 2 - Simple elegant and holds all you really need!

2 x 4 - Player and Break

3 x 6 - Player, Break, + the one I will win off you! . . .or other good deal!

4 x 8 - . . .cause I can't reasonably fill it. Why not!

When I got my Sterling Wave 4x8, I realized that it is smaller and lighter than my previous case, which was a 3x5. It probably weighs 3 pounds when it's empty. At most.

However, if I HAD to minimize my case, I could fit everything in a 2x4 as long as there was a sleeve for my jump cue butt. However, I'm really happy with my current 4x8.

I carry around an underutilized 2X3, to which I hope to add a break cue and an extra shaft. In the meantime, I'm glad to have the extra pocket space to hold my gadgets which if I hadn't bought them would have allowed me to buy a break cue and extra shaft. :o

True story: I was at an APA match at my home bar at 29th and 9th, which is an area where Hell's Kitchen transitions into No Man's Land. I was outside smoking with one of my teammates when a homeless guy walked by pulling a cart that contained a cue case. I looked at my teammate, and he said, "Well, go see what he's got!"

I chased the guy down and he had a hand-tooled leather 4X6 case that I bought off of him for $50 (I didn't check the brand). It was nice, but I immediately realized it was far more case than I needed. I went back into the bar and asked if anyone needed a case.

Turns out, an APA SL3 was carrying 4 cues together in a soft case. I was able to turn a quick $50 when he bought it for $100.

Nice one Oklahoma Kid , it's cool that the both yourself and the homeless guy were able to make an easy $50 each

I just got a nice Dan Whitten 3x6 case arrive in the mail yesterday and it's got decent size storage pockets for the few bits'n'bobs that I use as well as chalk, and although I only really need a 2x4 case... I'm perfectly happy to have a 3x6 since it gives a little extra cue storage space for an extra cue stick, so I could get a nice back-up player or J/B without the problems of not having room in the case to store it :)

Love me 3x6 flowers tribute. Because I carry extra shafts with me, including an extra shaft for my break cue (one with phenolic, and one with Samsara) my optimum size(s) would be 2x5 or 3x7. Option to carry one or two players, my break cue and an extra shaft slot for my jump.

As small and lite weight as possible while still carrying what I need. A 2x3 works for me and I'm leaning towards a 1x2 more and more of the time. Break w/the playing cue.

3x7 with jump handle pocket

1 player with 2 shafts
1 break cue with 2 shafts one phenolic and one leather tip
1 cue for sale with 2 shafts
1 jump cue

2X4 gets the job done for me, room for my player with 2 shafts just in case a tip breaks on one, break cue and shaft, and jump cue shaft.

I am tempted to say 3*6, however a 3*4 would suit me just fine.

Break cue 1+1
Play.. cue 1+2
Jump. cue 1+1
total...... 3+4

Does anyone NEED a second shaft with their break cue? or with their jump cue? One DOES ned a second shaft with the play cue with different tips for different games.
