Best Cue for a Beginner

Man, I just got into this game about 3-4 months ago and was told not to start with a cheap cue..So I started with a 500 dollar Joss cue..Was that a mistake guys??

Not a mistake at all. You got yourself a solid cue. You could have spent less for a comparable cue, but as long as you like the cue, you are fine. Nothing you can do about it now.
 
i typically avoid buying used on forums that i know the users are mostly american because most people wont want to deal with shipping across the boarder, but ill give it a try... dont think a sob story about me being a broke student will do anything though... thanks for all the advice so far guys

Used is used. As is. No returns. Consider that before buying.
 
soft tip

Whatever cue you buy as a beginner you should start out playing with a soft tip because in that extra split second of contact a bad stoke with become more obvious. JMHO
