Best cue in the 100-150 price range?

Tip help for MidnightPulp

BTW, does anyone know of an online retalier who offers the option to change tips other than Ozone? Platinum and Dawg have a wider selection of discount cues, but don't offer that option. Mechanics who have high-end tips are non-existent in my area.

www.seyberts.com has more customization options for a new cue than any on-line retailer I've seen yet, and I've looked at quite a few.

If you mean changing a tip on a cue you already have, go to this page and scroll down a ways, and you'll see all kinds of cue mechanics who can work through the US mail, if need be. You might even find one near where you live.

Plus, if your concern is that your local folks don't have high-end tips, you can always buy those tips from Seybert's yourself and bring them to your mechanics.

Schmelke makes a nice sneaky pete that you can get in that range. Actually, in that price range you can probably customize it a bit, get it coco or bocote into birdseye maple, if you want.

Huebler is another option you may want to look at. I've heard conflicting stories over the last couple of years about whether they were still in business, but AFAIK they are still making cues.

Good luck,

Aaron

Well, just inspected my cue right now (the cue ball has been feeling like a two pound ball bearing--I thought it was simply due to the cold weather), and I've discovered the joint is loose.

Guess I subconciously knew something was wrong, because I've been searching for a great deal for the past two days, but wasn't really committed to buying anything.

Now I have an excuse :)

I would love to dump five or six bills on a Schon or a Pred, but I'm in the process of refurbishing my table, so I'm looking for a well hitting cue on the cheap.

Been looking at Lucasi, Schmelke, Fury, (don't like McD's cues in this range), and the eBay cues I posted about.

Any recommendations?

Thanks.

I AM NO EXPERT BUT KNOW JEANETTE LEE WELL ENOUGH THAT HER NEW CUE RELATIONSHIP MAKES IN-EXPENSIVE CUES AND SHE WOULDN'T PUT HER NAME ON ANYTHING THAT SHE BELIEVED IN; TRUST ME, I AM 100% SURE OF THAT.LIQUIDWICK MIGHT BE WORTH CONSIDERING

Bill Dominiak cues are the nuts in that range, good quality cue and you can customize the way you want it. I play with a 1020 model and really like the hit. www.dominiakcues.com .

I'll agree with this. I've had my Dominiak Kandycurly since last March & I love it. Strangely enough, it's only recently people have been asking me what it is! It's a very different looking cue, that's partly why I chose it, not to mention it hits very well, and all for $150!

try out some Kaisers if you don't like the McD's. I recommend that you change the WB tip if you want a particular result from the cue. overall, the cue has a good hit for such a cheap price. most importantly, it's balance is good.

Schmelke makes good cues for that price. You'll be able to get a bit of customization on it too.

You really can't go wrong with a Dominiak. I got one of his 1020's about a year back and still love it - IIRC, it only costs about 120 shipped now.

I'd like to add Viking to my previous answer. Now that they discontinued the F series, you can get great deals on them. Go to Billiardwarehouse.com, check out the F-95 on the Viking page, choose the wrap, shaft taper and tip. I did that with the F98, went with the natural stain and got a nice plain jane for $125. I think the F-95 is going for $145 or so. Put a nice tip on that and you're good to go.

I have bought three different sneakies from Schmelke, and really liked them all.

I ordered each from the factory.

The first was a coco with 13 mm tip. So nice a friend insisted on buying it from me, for full price.

The second was a coco with a 12 mm tip. Beautiful cue, fantastic hit.

The third is a custom sneaky, 19 ounces, 11 mm shaft, longer 16" pro-taper, 1/4 inch ferrule. Best playing cue I've ever owned. That one with the customization, including shipping, ran me $145. A few days ago I installed a stack leather wrap... Love it.

Schmelkes are great.
