Best cues?

As previously mentioned - the best cue is the one which you win with. If you can do everything you want with the cue and you get that high that comes from controlling your rock like it's on a string then that is the BEST cue. The best cue is the one you pick up and hit balls like it's a part of your hand.

In my life my best cues have been,

McDermott
Olivier
Sherm Adamson
Gilbert
Tim Scruggs
Joss West
Joss
Schon
Jensen
Jacoby

Cues I had to adjust a little too but I loved
Cognoscienti
Layani
SouthWest
Espiritu

These are by no means all the cues I have owned and not reflective of the hit or playability of them all. It is only the ones that I put in a lot of hours with and that stand out for me.

Right now I play with a Fury RP-9 and it hits pretty good. I am working with the factory to develop a Fury that I would include in the top list. But I like my Fury enough as it is to bet on myself using it when I match up.

brian king custom cues of huntsville ,al( for me anyway)
He has really kicked it up a knotch. I was looking at the cue he made for Robert Hall and it looks like any other well respected cue makers cue. It played REALLY well. I'm gonna have him make me one also.

Best Cue

Sorry if this pisses anybody off, but, I'll stick with Skip Weston. He does the BEST points in the business and his playability is second to none. Plus, he's a great guy to deal with.

I know.....

you all might not beleive me but Brian King is gonna list some of his cues on the FS forum here before long and I have to say he is doin the damn thing. I live here in town with him and have gotten the chance to see his cues progress and hit a ball with most of them. His cues will go up in value. The last cue he made I have to say hit about as good as anything I've played with and looked really really good for someone that has been building cues for as long as he has. From the time I have known him he has always had the line on cues. He always has had a knowledge for the way most cue makers build their cues and has taken all that and has progress in his own way. I will say they play great and are worth buying. You all will see them soon on here and I will say right now that for what he asks for them.

Best cues

I haven't seen anybody mention Arnot Q. His work is outstanding and he made me a black African ebony roadplayer that is the best hitting cue I have ever played with. It's going in my casket with me...LOL Jacoby cues are awesome also.

All of the cue makers listed are super-talented. Black Boar has amazing craftsmanship - maybe above others.

As far as playability, feel and precision... mighty hard to beat Lambros. I'd play w/ a Lambros even if it was purple and pink striped with orange polka-dots.

I gotta agree completely with this statement!! Every time I let someone use mine they don't want to give it back!!

One of the most expensive cues (as I understand) was built and sold by a cuemaker from Alaska - name Thomas Wayne. Surprised he wasn't atleast mentioned.[/QUO

Thomas Wayne is one of the most talented cuemakers ever. His intricate inlaying is the best. His celtic knot patern cues are the best.

I'm surprised noone has mentioned Ron Haley or Art Cantando. These guys don't make many cues but the ones they make, they make well. Ron is very well respected by most cuesmiths. If you like the way Barry Szambotis cues hit you will like Arts.

its all a matter of opinion, but for my money as far as the best playability and quality of materials, Steve Kornele will build you one of the best cues for your money. Not to mention that he tutored under the late great Verl Horn...

Ive had my share of cues over the years. My Ed Youngs hit top notch as did my Kersenbrock Titlist cue. Ive had a Gilbert that hit in the same catagory and an Alex Brick hit close also. An ebony Skip Weston with flatface ivory joint 3/8x10 pin and a rc3 flatface phenolic, if I remember hit better that the rest for me. Even the same brand can hit entirely different. These were compared using the same tips and close to the same shaft sizes. weights all around 19-19.5. Deacon
