Hi everyone, for you what is the best hitting cue (custom) you haver try???
I don't need (and don't have the money) a collectible cue, just a player cue .... exemple southwest or bender capone BCM i need a low deflection stroke with a good hit for 10 ball 9 ball but even straight pool .....planning 800 USD or 1000 USD .
Now I use a BKB custom with a wx700 mezz shaft.
Thanks to everyone for the attention....

There are probably a 1000 previous posts on this topic. Use the search function and read to your hearts content

I'll go with my Lomax. I've hit with quite a few, Searing, Josey, and many more. They're all very nice. It's really a personal choice. Go to a show, or a big tournament. The vendors there will have a lot of choices you can get a feel for. Not sure how many will have cues on hand you can hit with, but I'd probably start there. Everyone on the forums will have a favorite but you need to find your own.

"Hit" is subjective, so you will get about as many answers as you have active members here.

Omega DPK is by far the best hitting cue I've owned, but don't think you could buy one for less than a $1000. Ernie Martinez cues play great for a decent price.

When you're in to low deflection i can give you 1 address: BD cues .

He just upgraded his SS360 shaft with even less deflection then before .
He did some tests regarding deflection and his SS360/2 shaft at 12,75mm had almost the same deflection as a Z2 shaft at 11,75mm !!!

And the feel and hit of a BD cue is out of this world , i will never play with another cue again .

Christoph

You want to try out a BD cue and you're in Vegas for the BCA nationals , give me a pm and we can meet up .
You will be amazed how good this cue plays !

1. The one you will never sell.

2. The one that won all the money in the tournament

I found my cue. Judd JT-1, birdseye maple forearm/butt with zircote handle. This one makes me smile everytime I bring it out of the case. Simple cue, great playability.

Best regards

If you want a cue just for playing, consider getting a sneaky pete from that maker. It should have the same shaft and hit as other cues from that maker for a fraction of the price.

Looking for a Tim Scruggs? Check the for sale section, Tim Scruggs sneaky go from anywhere $400-$800, less than half the price of his custom cues.

I know Bryan for a long time and I had 2 of his cues in the past.Unfortunatly the life want me to sale its and stopping me play pool for 8 years. Now I came back 8 hours every day and BCM was my first choise,Bryan is extraordinary person.
Thanks to everyone that answer my post.
Andrea.
p.s. hope one day I can come to USA to play and try some cues.
also have a Scott Gracio custom cue,is wonderful but the weight and the bigger handle is not for me.

Played my strongest pool ever with Bryan mordts cue. Get yourself a Bcm!!!

Unless you want to really customize the weight and look, the are plenty of production cues that play great. There are quite a few customs available in your price range that play excellent as well. It's a matter of personal preference. I'm partial to Mike Durbin and Travis/Blackcreek, their cues are a very good value. You don't see many here for sale either, that speaks volumes.

Jerry -R- and Diveny have.both impressed me with the hit of their full splice cues, but $1000 might be a little low...as a point of reference I love Schon cues

I have a Herbert Schlaumannfragen that I will never ever sell. Its super rare and Herman is not accepting any orders for a few years at least. ULTRA-exclusive clientele. He only makes his sticks from centenarian kosher slaughtered spalted amboyna burl and maple stands harvested under the light of a blue moon by a bonded Irish servant slathered in a mixture of balsamic vinegar and stevia.

Greatest-hitting stick evar.

Jack Madden was my automatic answer until I played a Willie Speed dufferin conversion. The BEST shaft I've come across yet. 60", 21oz, 12.5mm. The best money I've spent on pool thus far.

Madden has the best balance of any custom I know of though.

So what's wrong with what you have now?

Once you change out the shaft on a custom cue, you have about 80% less custom cue feel.

I never quite understood spending a ton on a well known maker's cue, then sticking a run of the mill production LD shaft on the thing.

Yes, I have a nice Ned Morris, but I was using that for over a year before switching shafts. I play as good with my $80 McDermott Lucky cue with my regular shaft as the $1,000 Morris. The only thing that changes is the hit feel and the balance which is not that much of a difference due to using the same shaft and tip on both cues.
