love to see Hemmah's name on that...thought he was with Hardtimes at one time. I know he can play with the list of players on there. Anyone else have opinions or other players that could be involve?

I really like the format of the tournament. I think it would be a fun tournament to watch and wish I could be there to spectate. Arizona is having a women's bar table 10 ball tournament that I really wanted to play in the same weekend, so it's a tough call between watching in LA or playing in AZ:).

All 10 of the players playing in that tournament are STRONG! My guess, looking at the names it will come down to Scott Frost or Louis Ulrich (GO SAN DIEGO!). Ernesto can never be counted out either. NONE of these players can really be counted out. Good luck to all of em! May the bestest in the westest WIN!

Well one thing is for sure, you can't have a best in the west with only 10 players. And yeah I think the house pro of the place your playing at should get an invite. And its always hard to say best in the area, because people move. Its like high school vs college. In high school you really have to be from that area. In college sure all the players who play for UCLA live in LA, now, but they could be from anywhere. But I think they do have a good cross reference of west coast champions, but not a great one. Open it up to 20 people and then you might get close.
Another observation, the west coast refers to the entire west coast, not just southern california north of san diego. Maybe they could have one in Washington and Oregon, and then have a three man round robin with the winners, if only pool was that organized.

Hmmm.... No Mitch Ellerman???

Seems like Scott and Jimmy have had a hard time beating him in the last year.....

And didn't he just recently win a small 8-ball tournament in some small town like RENO or something.....;)

Just playing devil's advocate here ... how would Parica not be involved in this since he lives in Pomona ?

I would have liked to have been invited.....

I woud have liked ohae been invited.... although I completely understands why I wasn't. Although if it is a question if I cankeep u withthose playes askDan wallace or Louis Ulrich if I can. Hell, ask Frank dabarber, we;ve played some.....

Jaden

Let me add soemthing here.... In no way do I feel I should've been invited instead of any of the people listed....

I guess no one reads anymore. LOL!

At any rate, due to the format, the field is limited to only 10.

Everyone thus far mentioned, was invited/considered.

Who are you? If that is you in your avatar, you look familiar. Did you play at the Swanee this year?

FWIW, I think the tournament is a great idea and the list looks just about right (plus or minus a few... but as CCC stated they may have had prior commitments).

Maybe it's your 150+ IQ...

These are some of the finest players in the West. With a round robin format there has to be some sort of limit to the number of players. Just adding one more player would add about 6 more hours of play to an already full two day event. I would suggest that everyone that can come to be a spectator should. It will be a great event and talked much about after-wards.

Considering I hardly played in any events over the course of the last year (going back to summer of '07, since we're talking about "in the last year"), and have only played Mitch a couple times, having won once and lost once, I don't know how to respond to that. Mitch is a good player so, win or lose, he's usually a tough match.

I can't speak for Scott because I haven't followed the Arizona Scott/Mitch Rivalry.

There are a LOT of great players on the west coast. Like Frank said, you have to consider the format. It IS a round robin format and ALL of the players are playing each other and will be playing ALL day long. If this tournament had any more players, it would take ALL week!

I like the format because I feel like each player is getting their $'s worth getting to play everyone, it gives each player a chance to get into stroke and be ready for the million dollar tournament and you really can see who's the best of the best in the west:).

Like Frank and Corey said, come down and support the tournament and hopefully they will be able to have another one in the future where more top west coast players will be able to play!

Thanks for putting a tournament like this together, Corey! Looking forward to hearing about the results!

Sounds like a great tournament. Anyone know if Sal Butera might be able to make it? Hell of a player. I wish I were still back in LA to sweat it. I think if Max brings his A-game, he'll be the man to beat. But in terms of heart and sheer determination, Tang, Oscar, and Ernesto Dominguez have a way of making it through the field.

Every time I see Ernesto play, he seems to maintain control of the table and execute both shots and safeties with very deliberate precision. He's the type of player we all hate to play: tons of talent, tons of heart, no give-up. You have to beat the man, because he's not going to give anything away easy. I put him as one of the top 3 favorites, especially playing on his own triple-shimmed tables.

If he wants to be, I think Tang is the favorite. All depends on his work/practice ethic leading up to it.

Like I said, if he wants to win, he's the favorite IMHO.
