Best matches to show to newbies

Hello,

I often go to play pool with friends that don't know what pool is aside from the occasional table in a bar.
As you know pool is a very interesting game, but hard to understand to the new player.
Sometimes I want to send them videos of matches to see the best pool can be, so my friends want to come play again

Can you suggests example of thoses matches for thoses disciplines : 9 or 10 ball, one pocket, 14.1?
I think the criterias are:

• thrilling scenario
• fast play
• good commentary with explanations.

On the accu-stats Youtube channel there is a lot of goods matches. During wich era did they were drawing cue ball path on the screen?

in fact, carom (on a billiard table) and one pocket where the two game they enjoyed the most during the evening.

Reyes vs Takahashi 1995 US Open on Accustats. Reyes puts on a clinic here. It also has the added bonus of showing a player show real heart after being frozen in the chair for a bit. Efren opens w/a 4 pack, then drops it on the snap to go up 5-0. In rack 6 he makes ball on the break and can’t see the opening object ball and pushes to a spot 95% of players would give back.

Takahashi not only doesn’t give it back, but makes a brilliantly conceived shot that was only way he could get shape on the next ball and gets out of a tough rack. An amazing response showing real grit after being in the electric chair since he lost the lag. Sadly, it was short lived, Efren went on to beat him 11-1. It’s a great match, Efren in his prime hitting on all cylinders.

Bank pool might not be the best game to show newbies, but this one is short and might qualify:

If they want kicking lessons show them Efren. If they need help with safety play, show them Filler. If they can't see, get them glasses. If all of that fails...Well, that's too bad.

Show them trick shots. People who don't play love that stuff.
They wouldn't understand a great match between great players until they really get the bug for themselves.

Show them a final day match from a MR major. The production is great, and, most importantly, they have a shot clock. You don't want to put new players to sleep.

"The Agony of Defeat" ... It is dramatic. The earlier ones where the crowd shut up for the shot are better, IMNSHO.
