Best part of the country for pool?

If you had to vote on which part of our country had the best pool scene, where would you say?

I live in the greater Phoenix area, and there are at least half a dozen pool rooms with great equipment, and several weekly tournaments at each of them. They don't get my vote, since they tend to cater to the "under 600 Fargo" crowd. I enjoyed Houston. Lots of action, decent amount of tournaments, etc.

How about you?

The game is alive and well in and around New Orleans. I have played at Buffalo's, Lacy's and White Diamonds and it seems like they take the game seriously.
New York still has some great rooms and Denver area seems to be hanging in there. Denver has lost a few good rooms but the game hangs on and the competition is strong from Wyoming to Colorado Springs.

I live in Atlanta and love my pool scene dearly. But, if I am being honest, I think the pool scene in Alabama is very tough to beat.

I live in B'ham and it's pretty good with APA and more than a few strong players, I'm about a C player or 6/6 in APA.
I lived in Denver from '99 - '06 and there were more and better places to play, and of course, more and better players!
If I ever move from B'ham it'll be back to Denver and not for pool, I just fell in love with Denver !!!

KansasCity is doing pretty well. There's four Sidepockets(really nice spots) scattered around and Shooter's in Olathe. LOT's of league and tournament play. The events at Shooter's are usually packed with top midwest talent.

Surely not Utah...

Sadly Utah is no where near ANY votes.. I dare say the bottom of the list.. currently in our capital city we have 1 Single Bar (Big Willies) that actually has more then 2 Diamonds, & one 12ft Snooker. It's our "Go-to" for any med-large tourney. Most other venues are Bars with 7ft boxes typically no more then 4. (Which we have several of) so leagues do ok. But even in the last few years the scene here is on a decline. Thankfully APA showed back up though that helps (Thanks Al & Melanie!)

I'm gonna through Florida into the mix on this one...

I don't know if we compete for "best", but the Northern VA and DC area has jumped up lately thanks to Roy Francisco bringing world-class players here non-stop. Suddenly you can regularly find Orcullo, Pagulayan, Bustamante, Aranas, Chinakhov, Chua, Biado, Tkach, etc. in action in our local pool rooms on a regular basis. It's been really cool and I hope he can keep it up as long as possible.

Heck yeah, Virginia has some great players and places to play.

Florida definitely has a lot going on but as I've recently discovered, the Tennessee/Kentucky area is well stocked with great players too.

I lived on the Florida Panhandle for a little bit, it seemed pretty dead for pool. Tallahassee on down probably had plenty to choose from.

When you get down to Orlando to the eastern coast and down further to West Palm Beach/Miami........the field is quite large with lots of great players. Also, a lot of pool halls with quality tables opposed to bars with 7ft. drink coasters.

Utah, where Mark Tadd originated. For the short time he dominated, the best player ever, IMO.
