Best People To Gamble With In Your State.

Joey, I could be wrong, but I think Emeryville is next to Oakland, California - also I think the Broken Rack is the poolroom where Billy Palmer plays.

You are correct. I haven't seen Billy around much lately, but he does come in sometimes.

Cheers,

Canton Ohio area.

1. AZ and IPT's own Al-Fahl (A.K.A Aaron) backs quite a few players (Corey, Shawn, Neils, etc.) and is know to play if the game is fair.

2. Myself I will be very active on the rail, but I do not play.

The place to play is Fiddlestix in Canton Ohio very nice tables and bar and anyone in the world can get played at any game if it is arranged ahead of time. If your in the area Call me (330) 509-5039
What the hell does AL-FAHL do for a living that he can ca-plunk that much cash? I look at my salary and after insurance taxes living expenses and diapers, I would be pressed to throw out 50$ a set, then only once if I lost. LOL and I actually make decent cash, slightly above the average for a medium family.

Bob (Cane) ... Last I knew, Shane McMinn was working at the Palace?
(That's what Brenda, his mom, said) What has happened to action at Magoos? And last I knew, Dave Hendricks and Walter Glass were still
in OKC, they gamble, or just go to Mikies, 24/7 place, there's action
there.

Cool, Didn't know Shane was working at the Palace. Nice kid, though. (uh, anyone under 40 seems like a kid to me, so no offense meant). I'm going up to play the Midwest Tour stop there in a couple of weeks, Scott. You going to be able to make it down?

Don't know about Magoos action. I usually play at the palace, run up to Magoos to eat and look at the scenary!!! :D

This thread seems like its asking for directions to Knocksville USA.

Why would anyone give up the name of the best action in their state? The best action rarely stays that way if every road agent knows about it and is trying to snap it off left and right.

I could tell you Rodney Morris and Robb Saez are the best to gamble with but that doesnt help much. If you need the name and location of the average joe who has money and will bet high on games he doesnt have the nuts in, you should do what the rest of us do...come to the pool hall, match up and figure out who that person is.

Unfortunately, I am a working man and don't have time to hang out in new pool halls that I have never visited. My level of play does not allow me to gamble with professionals head up and I am not a head hunter but a person who likes to compete with other working stiffs like myself.

I am not asking anyone to tell me the local people's speed and am only interested in knowing who gambles and who doesn't and where they are in case when I do my limited traveling I might consider stopping in at a particular pool hall because someone specific gambles there and that the chances are pretty good that they will gamble for small stakes. I have no need to rob anyone or gamble for that matter but enjoy it as a hobby. I don't see how that could be construed as knocking anyone.

Time is a precious commodity and I would like to know if there are regular people, 50 hour a week guys like myself that play and gamble at this sport as a hobby.

Warm Regards,
JoeyA

Hi Joey

I am with you. My full time+ job leaves too little time for pool. Gambling is secondary, though I welcome modest stakes. Maybe next year we can finally match up at the DCC.

If you ever get around NE Ohio (by accident or on purpose) let me know. I would love to make it back to N.O. sometime for the Jazz and Blues fest...if i do I'll let you know.

Did you get squared away with your commercial losses from Katrina?

Hope all is well,
Regards,
Don

As I've said before - If you can't get a square Pool Gamble w/ Terry H., You need to find a new game to gamble on.
I personally have seen (more than you could imigine), Terry quit a game because he realized he had the nuts. He told the oponents, the game needed to be adjusted. Naturally they all thought he wanted to change it in his favor.
No, he wanted to change it to make it more of a fair game for both. He wanted to adjust it in favor of the oponent.
He dosen't want the nuts. He wants a fair game that offers a challenge. Don't get me wrong, he is trying to win and often does. When he finds himself up against The Nuts - He tends to Go Off - Thinking he can overcome the game by getting in stroke, And he has done that sometimes.
Once when he wanted to try to get a bad game because he liked the broke pool player but just wanted a good workout, he got pretty upset that none of the usual backers would back the player who was getting The Nuts.
Terry said "The hell with these so called backers, I got a good backer for you. The player says, great - Who?
Terry says - ME - Lets Go.
About half way through the 4 hour match - Terry ask Dean - You want to raise it from $30 a game to $50? Dean don't know what to say. Terry goes down to talk to Dean and says - Listen, I'm your backer, raise the bet and bust this sucker.
Anyone who knows Terry, (and many do) Knows were not talking chump change.
I've been around Pool & Gambling for over 46 years now and have never seen anyone like Terry. Or a better person to Gamble with at Pool.

Don't get me wrong - We have many other Missouri fine players & Gambling - It is just that Terry is the standout.

TY & GL, OHB

Terry, assuming your talking about the Terry H. that won the MO State 9-ball several years ago, really is a great guy. That being said, I've only played REALLY cheap sets with him because I spend all my money on cues...lol.

He has done real well backing some of the world beaters that he is friends with, and he has been ambitious in some of his buisness ventures.

Live about 30 miles west of Cleveland (near Elyria). Usually play around here (Lorain, Elyria, Sandusky) if looking for a game but get out very little anymore. Maybe 1-2 nights/month.

I have been to Fiddlesticks only once. Great place. Diamond tables if i recall correctly. They have a pretty successful college football team over there in Alliance.

MY business was a total loss without insurance. My other personal properties were well insured and the only problem is getting contractors to do the work at what the insurance companies are paying. The contractors charge what they think the market will bear often costing the home owner additional tens of thousands of dollars. The police station where my sister works is inundated with story after story of contractors exploiting home owners, often not doing any work but taking money from people who just don't have the means to get it back or to deal with it.

MY home, apartment and fishing lodge now have roofs on them. The home has sheetrock, insulation and tile, waiting for doors and trim but surviving nevertheless. DCC was a welcome reprieve from what's going on here but the wife wasn't too happy about me taking a haitus from this steady beating we have been receiving.

Luckily ? we found out that all of the water pipes in our apartment investment needed to be replaced. If we had put sheetrock back up before making this decision it would have been but a few months and then we would have had to tear out the sheetrock to replace the old galvanized corroding pipes which were throughout the two apartments.

The Mexicans that are here work for reasonable wages, do reasonable work and insome cases exceptional work. Thank God that they are here because Louisiana could never get the work done on their own. There is so much devastation here that it is hard to believe that it could happen and that the aftermath is even worse than the apocalypse itself. Money has been wasted on people not interested in going back to work or getting another house and everyone is riding the gravy train. The utility company is threatening to double everyone's rates because they cannot rebuild with their meager income. Thousands of homes will never be rebuilt. Hundreds of thousands of people will never return to New Orleans. My God, Don. Why did you have to go and ask me about my losses. Yesterday I thought we were making progress. :-)

Sure I would love to match up with you and play some pool. You just missed the Mardi Gras but New Orleans is dying for another party. Let's just hope it isn't another Katrina party.

Warm Regards,
JoeyA

The problem I see that you have is insurance taxes, living expenses and diapers. Now I have a full time job that pays okay but the difference is I still live with mommy and daddy so there goes insurance taxes, and living expenses. I don't own a car or have any kids so no expenses there. So, pretty much what I make at work is able to be gambled with. The other things I do different is when I'm not working or sometimes when I'm still at work I love to exploit my friends for money. So if you find someone that will let you live with them for free and friends that will let you profit from there hard work you should be able to gamble more than $50 a set.;)

Sounds like a nice guy, but a terrible gambler. I love having the nuts and like to get my money in when I definitely have the best of it, anything else is just stupidity.

I think that, playing as a hobby, sounds like me. Of course, we learned that I need a good chunk of weight when you come through town. More generally, I'll play strangers at fairly low stakes (around the level where if I get smashed then I'm paying $20-$30/hour for a "lesson"). And I'll go higher when I'm pretty sure that the match isn't too lopsided.

There's others in DC that shoot better and bet higher, but I wouldn't feel comfortable posting their names. Send me a PM if you're coming into town and I can tell you who to look for. Joey--there's at least two people I shoot with fairly often that I'd love to watch you match up with in some 1P.

Cory

pyramid is a pool hall with a full bar and great wings.

yes there is some one pocket action to be had for all... last week a couple of guys shot a 1 pocket game race to TEN!(it was a LONG game, couple of days) for 25 bags of sand. i wont give their names out, but i can tell you where to find them if you pm me.

i can also get you in on some good bank pool, or scotch doubles action pretty easy. just let me know....

and a cut is always nice:)
