I knew a guy from around Cullman back around 90 who could play some. Billy Kerkendahl...??? Does that ring a bell?

Billy was out playing some at the beginning of the year. Nice guy. Plays a gentleman's game. Haven't seen him out since probably April.

I have seen George Rothrock wup Tim O. for a dime at the end of last year. Also Bulfin plays good but not that good. I could take him down on a good day. Rowell plays good but not great. I would bet on George against Rowell any day. Also I hear Scotty Townsend's son plays real good but never seen him play.

Thats my two cents

Hell, I'm kinda curious who this is. Not doubting you, just wondering if we know each other.

you from north bama? how long you been around the pool rooms?

If you were talking to me, I was talking to center pocket. I don't doubt he can beat me. I do doubt your claims. And just to get it out there, yes, I have been playing pool in AL since the 90's.

I was playing alot in columbus last year till febuary of this year. I have moved to arizona now. I grew up in birmingham until I was 15 though, I am 25 now. Where do you play out of muttley???

This is Matt Bulfin. I was just curious because of your statement that you could beat me on a good day. As far as I know, nobody in Columbus at that time had any real shot other than Duane, or Billy Peay, if he was in town. So the 64k question is, who is this?:p

blahblahblah. fleas u wanna play some?

Hey Aaron, Marcus said you might be interested in playing some 9 ball? One of the guys here is interested in staking that game if so. Nothing huge, but at least a couple hundred a set. Lemme know bro. And congrats on beating the crab.

I was a soldier in columbus and I saw you play in many other tournies in atlanta. Granted I am basing what I say on how I saw you play then and how I know I can play. I honestly believe that you probably play even better now after how well you did in that tommy kennedy tournie where john schmidt was the only one that beat you. I remember reading that and feeling very surprised that you were playing that good. You did pop through columbus once when I was playing there but I think i was playing that short mexican cuase I was hoping he would go off and lose a dime or so. I regret not playing you then cause I wanted to see how we would match up. That was around the end of last year. I am not sayin you dont play good or that I play better, hence why I said ON A GOOD DAY I could beat you. Meaning Im playing my A game and you are struggling a little. Then it might be even. Here is a good question how would you feel about playing George for a dime? Would you need weight? Do you think he would need weight? Keep in mind George plays way better for the cash then in those tournies.

lol, you might also want to keep in mind that he and I were partners for years. I don't know how we would play now. I was just curious as to who you were, cause I honestly couldn't place you. I know pretty much everybody around here who gambles, and didn't recall you. And, for the record, beating me is no great accomplishment. :D Pretty much everybody who has ever tried has done it.

I will I am glad you are pretty humble and didnt take my statement the wrong way. The thread is who is the best in Alabama, and I know you play good, better than me, but I wouldnt say the best. I am sure you would agree with me. Everytime I saw you you seemed like a nice guy, and I honestly I silently rooted for you at the tournies I played as well. Being that you are a bama boy toy, yet from auburn. I will Pm you my specifics.

You still down that way? My Mom grew up in and near Girard back in the day when the Phenix City Mobsters were going wild down there.

Auburn. Don't get around Phenix City to much. Not a lot of gambling in that area. A bunch more in Montgomery.

I dont know who the best is, I just want to know who will play....
All of these guys can come to birmingham and play.

Matt Bulfin...you got 2 on the wire to 30 for a lump sum

SMACKMAC

I know this is a old thread, but I just want to give my opinion on the the best gamblers in Alabama. When I started back playing, no one, and I mean no one gambled as good as Harold in Tuscaloosa. I remember the first time I played him, he was spotting me playing one pocket, which I didn't play for 300 a game. He beat me the first game and I saw I had no chance unless he'd dog it for the cash, so I said bet 500, he didn't hesitate and said bet, beat me 4 in a row. I also took him up on the offer of getting the 8 playing 10,and I think we played 3,000 sets. We played many times and I honestly don't know who's winner, and he's a great gentleman player, but Harold and Ricky Pepper's gets my vote for best gamblers in Alabama at that time.

lol........i wasnt talking about me woofing or me wanting to be woofed at...i was staing something about the woofing...it is english speaking in here isnt it?...lol j/k dude i havent played in years but was considering it, i was looking about getting a cue and playing sometime. i noticed this post and yes i would be a moron to jump up and try to play anyone today, next week, or month, im not interested in burning out again by playing 7 hours a day and traveling all over eternity  the good thing about getting older, with maturity i dont have to feel the need to beat anyone that can fog a mirror, and with hindsight i think its better to be completely unknown , unless it payed a ton. i think it would be cool to actually go into a pool room and not watch the locals run through the room and knock the action like idiots. and i dont know hennessee but ive seen alot of posts on here and all but i bet he wold probably like not being known also " but im not speaking for him either":p

Guys, I can tell you this guy was a straight shooter when he played all the time. He played run out pool and you couldn't miss any balls. So, I do have to add, I would have driven 500 miles to play him a 500 set back in the day and he knows it.
