Best Pool Halls??

I know the pool halls in my town that I like, but what do people suggest around the country. My boyfriend and I are thinking about doing a tour around playing at as many cool bars and halls as we can find.

Where do you suggest and why?

We're from Tacoma and we love going to Malarkey's Pool & Brew. They've got great 7ft and 9ft tables, with free play on the big boys on Mondays. And also, I kid you not, the best burger in Tacoma!
We also enjoy going to the North End Tavern. They've got two 7 footers in the back and it's usually pretty quiet.

Great Pool Hall

Boarderline Billiards in Bristol,TN is a really great place to stop in.
Lady Pro Janet Atwell is the owner/operator .
They have numerous 7ft's and 9ft's and great food.
Its a regular stop on the GreatSouthernBilliardTour run by Shannon Daulton.
Thats prob the best time to stop in during one of those tournaments
It last all weekend and theres quite a bit of action going on.
Plus its right in the heart of downtown Bristol with a few other good bars a few doors apart from each other.
Thats one of my favorites , quite a hop from Tacoma but if your going to travel the country to find these places it would be worth stopping in .
Good Luck and Happy Traveling!

If you haven't played on any Diamond's as of yet, there's 3 Diamond 8ft's at the Schooner Tavern in Lakewood, you might want to give them a try before you head out to far...LOL

Ha ha. We play at the schooner occasionally. It would have been silly for me to list off every place that we like to play, especially since I'm curious about other people's favorite places in other parts of the country. But that was a super helpful and enlightening comment non-the-less.

Amsterdam Billiards in NYC is sort of the east coast straight pool mecca and has several regular pros.

Fargo Billiards in North Dakota is one of the largest, if not the largest, and I hear it's amazing.

I'm familiar mostly with the northern VA area, first break is all diamonds and just a nice place to play. Breakers in Herndon has great equipment too and is on the 4th floor of a clock tower. Q-ball in Springfield has probably the best gold crowns in the state plus some heated 3C tables.

No pool hall tour is complete, in my view, without a stop at Hardtimes in Bellflower. I want to go some day.

Of course Amsterdam Billiards in NYC is also a must. Back when they had two locations, I visited both. I got to see "Ginky" drill some guy that was getting the 6 ball.

Florida has a lot of good rooms. Ultimate Billiards in Fort Pierce, FL comes to mind. http://www.ultimate-billiards.com/gallery1/index.html

Jimmy's Pro Billiards in Minneapolis, MN is really nice. Jimmy Wetch is a former top player and owner of this great room. This room also has a very sporty Burger.

Red Shoes Billiards in Chicago, IL

Shooters in Olathe, KS (Midwest Pool Mecca)

Airway Billiards in Dayton, Ohio was a great place last time I was there many moons ago. You also may try Fiddlestix in Canton, OH.

Best Billiards in Las Vegas, NV.

These are some places that I could think of off the top of my head.

My suggestion to you is to pick a pool hall that you want to go to first.

Lets say Hardtimes in Bellflower. Then figure out when you want to be their, IE. for the first weekend of the month for their one pocket and nine ball tournaments. And then start working your trip schedule from there asking what all recommendation anyone has to place to stop on the way down to Hardtimes.

Personally, My ultimate trip would be to start out from Seattle and drive to Fargo's, then get some information on some other great places to stop from Fargo's to Amsterdams in NY, then go to Q masters in VA, then head down south to Florida with stops in between, then over to Kolbys, then to Hardtimes and back up. Make a big circle of the states per say.

It would take a lot of planning if you wanted to include some of the bigger tournaments in a trip...like the US Open, Derby City, Vegas, etc, but hey, I would try and incorporate as many of those as I could.

man, thinking about it makes me realize I would need at least 3 or more months free and a ton of cash....to the bucket list it goes...lol

Tacoma, eh?
Well one place that i find fun is O'Malleys.
The place is kind of small but rocks live music and great beer. They have 3 relatively nice 8ft tables in the back which are normally quite populated, if you're into meeting new people. =]
I go from time to time, maybe ill see ya there some time?

Also, i find it awesome that we use the same exact break and shooting cues!

Midwest rooms

Shooters in Olathe, Ks is a room not to miss, 39 tables, pro shop, food, etc.

Then journey down to my home room, Stix in Wichita, 20 Valley bar tables, 3 Gold Crowns, and a Snooker table. Free popcorn, 2 bars, food.
Also have Sidepockets, Rumors, Shooters, Southrock billiards.

Then continue south to Tulsa to Magoos, a well known room, they have around 40 tables.

I love Fargo Billiards

Check out this place if you are on the road, Fargo Billiards

Floor Plan, and the two table in the raised lounge area are not there any more. That is used for some bands, trivia, and eating area.

I know your not asking about places in Wa.Golden Fleece in Kenmore is great if you like a "players" pool room.

Fargo Billiards in ND is one I would like to see in person.

That IS awesome!!! And I love O'malley's. I think it's a really fun, loud, lively place to play pool. Maybe I will see you around there some time ;)

Romines High Pockets in Milwaukee WI. They have 50+ tables. 1 12x6 snooker table and 2 heated billiard tables.

"Felt" in Colorado just outside Denver is a very nice room. A bunch of 9 foot Diamonds and bar tables. Pretty good food and booze(booze is good anywhere). You can get action if you want or play fun pool with the regulars. An added plus is it's just 20 minutes or so to get in to the Rocky Mountains for a little sight seeing.

Oh yeah!? I'm originally from Colorado. I grew up in Golden, where is Felt at? That would be a lot of fun.

Half Time Sports Saloon

Holy Cow!!! We just went to Half Time sports Saloon in Gig Harbor and it was great! They had nice 9ft tables for 75cents a game.... AWESOME! I would definitely check it out for anyone in the the South Sound Area of Washington.
