The absolute best way to polish balls is.....I'd rather not say, lest I be banned.

If they are no longer shiny or have lost their coating that gives that deep gloss, you can use a metal polish CREAM & butt it w/ a rotary buffer to "melt" the cream & produce a thin layer of "wax".
You can also use ARAMITH BALL RESTORER
If the balls are still in good condition, I strongly suggest ARAMITH'S BALL CLEANER to bring back that deep tv-gloss. You can use a rotary buffer/polisher if you don't have an electric ball polisher. If you'll do it by hand, you won't be able to achieve that deep gloss since the electric buffer "melts" the polish to create that glass-like layer
