Best production line of the Mooch ever?

I have a mint Meucci Jimmy Rempe JR-1 made in the same era as this one.It will run 8 and out anytime,,,just not with me holding it.It is a great shooter though !!! LOL

Good wishes to everyone and a long life. I am 88 years young and still run a rack or two. I also teach pool and play five days a week. It used to take me 20 minutes to warm up and now it takes that long before I can bend low enough to play. Larry, AKA, N.Y.Larry

Same shaft wood supplier. Bob went to far less expensive shaft wood probably 75% less cost per shaft. That and Kats stopped supplying shafts to the custom builders.

Does that mean my 1980 David Howard Original shaft has the same wood? If that's the case, it would explain why it still plays great 30 years later. It does need a new ferrule. Sounds like I about made a bad mistake.
Any clue what material they used for the ferrules in 1980?

Muecci could say for sure. The old shafts were dried by air. Muecci changed to buying wood cured by used heat and a vacume pump to bake and suck moisture out of the wood. The result was a prettier white shaft that didn't perform anything like the old air cured shafts.

Bob has always gotten plastics that were hard to find. It will be almost impossible to find an exact replacement unless someone has really old stock. Is yours yellowish with a little grain like Ivory?

That is a really nice cue. I am guessing that was top of the line for the Hubbart series.

Looks like we both have the late 70's top of the line Cue. Surprise to me.
As you did I bought the cue because it is worth more than I paid just for the memories.
I had a two point with white points and green veneers. No other Mooch's play like these do except for the old customs he built in his garage before going mass production.
This one might get a steel joint.

I prefer the implex joints myself. I have always shot with wood/wood joints I just love the feel of them. Never been a fan of the steel joints. I agree though these cues are super sweet. I can't wait to send it away to Ryan (ratcues) and get it redone. They seem to be worth quite a bit now. I paid for mine about what it cost new with the case and one longer shaft. I really wanted it for the longer shaft dues to my height, But was I surprised with what I had bought.
These were totally top of the line. Not only this "Hubbart" line, But the others as well. There is only one or two other Pro model Meucci's that are as nice as this. In my opinion I like this one the most. Some of the Rempe models are cool. But not as elaborate & colorful.
