Hey Guys,

I tried to search for a related thread but couldn't find one, so I'm just gonna ask and Id really appreciate any suggestions.

1.What is the safest, most reliable shipping service within the US?
2.What is the best way to package a cue for shipping?

I ask because I am going to buy and ship a cue (within the US) for a fellow AZer, middle man style, w/o any profit because the cue maker doesn't offer shipping.

I just want to protect the cue and myself from any shady business that could occur while the cue is in transit. Heard to many horror stories about boxes arriving empty and what not. Just trying to alleviate any unnecessary stress, as I would just be doing this as a favor

Would really appreciate any advice or personal stories. Also apologize if this is the wrong forum to post.

Thanks,

jeff

Great question; unless the buyer specifies another carrier, I use the USPS service and put the securely wrapped package in one of the triangular shipping boxes that used to be available at the Post Office. Unfortunately my local Post Office doesn't have them any more so I've had to use the ones from FedEx, but you have to apply a lot of Priority or Express Mail stickers or they won't take the FedEx packaging.

???????????????

I agree on USPS priority with insurance an a must sign by recipient. The triangle boxes are free at the post office. If they are out you can make a request that they order some. When my post office has them I usually get about 2 or 3 for take home an one more thing I always ship in a cheap hard case of some kind for extra protection. Hope this helps!!!!!!!!!!!!

I send mine off Priority ....

I'll go to the post office and purchase one of the round shipping tubes... for about 4.00 ... and pick up one of the Long Priority triangle boxes while there. I'll wrap the cue in bubble wrap or newspaper and stick inside of the tube seal and tape the tube ... Stick the tube inside of the triangle priority box .... Stick newspaper down beside the tube and triangle box so it can't move around .... then seal and tape the end of the triangle box ... address it make sure it 's all taped up good ... Take it back to the Post Office and have them insure it and ship it out priority mail... With signed confirmation of reciept ...

I don't have any complaints ...

USPS has failed me twice. Fed Ex has failed me once

Insurance ended up making the above situations ok but why go through the hassle

I ship via UPS everytime because they have never lost or damaged one of my packages

One word FedEx!!!!!!

Usps priority insured, and tracked is the best way to ship imo.....if your post office is out of triangular tubes ...you can order them through usps.com, and they will ship them to your home at n/c.....

Wow, I didn't know that Snowman, Thank you.

Although each shipping source has pros and cons, I use USPS because they will investigate your case (albeit a pain in the....), and they will prosecute for fraud, if necessary. About five years ago I had a deal that went south, in a big way, at eBay and when they wouldn't help, PayPal basically ignored the issue, and my credit card company couldn't do anything because of a "technicality;" the local Postmaster got on the case and they person actually got prosecuted for Mail Fraud.

I couldn't believe it......I had just written it off as a loss and avoid eBay at all cost now. In the end I got paid (three years later.......but who cares) because part of the person's sentence was restitution.

You can get the FedEx or Post Office triangular tubes online and have them sent to your house. You can also turn the FedEx boxes inside out and use them at the post office. I feel the FedEx boxes are a little more heavy duty and hold up better.
