Best tip for break cue?

I just chipped the phenolic tip on my break cue, so need to re-tip. What do you think is the best break tip available now? I tried to search on it, but the search engine drops "best" and "tip", making a search nearly impossible.

Thanks all.

My God is this sport of ours in dire need of its own version of Consumer Reports! I'm willing to bet no matter what tip you put on your break-cue, you're still going to break the same. I would advise using the same type of tip you play with. You never know when it might come in handy.

I recently switched to a White Diamond and I have been happy with it...

It holds chalk much better which is important to me...

At SBE this year, I had the chance to try the IceBreaker tip from Tiger. It wasn't commercially available yet, but I'm leaning that way right now for my next break cue.

IDK Jude, I don't think you want to be breaking with a Moori medium or anything similiar.

I use a Talisman Extra-hard on my Lucasi J/B. I feel it breaks better then the triangle hard that was on it. I can park the cueball in the middle of the table better. I'm not a big fan of phenolic so I like sticking with leather.

So long as it doesn't mushroom, I'm fine with it. Seriously.

Thunder, from Josey for me. It jumps like a frog breaks with it's name and is a nice controlable leather tip.

I use super pro tips on my break cues during construction. They hit very well and hold shape very well. Plus they aare available at a very good cost to the user. Last a super long time as well.
Thanx,

Best tip

I tried the phenolic but it was to easy to miscue with and did not get much english...

The Icebreaker sounds interesting as I use Sniper tips but until I see it used more I'll stick with the White Diamond that tip is the nutz on my Howard break cue ... As was stated it holds chalk much better also I've found that I get much better english with it then most break tips. They break hard too I'm very happy with mine .... I tried Moori and was not happy tried phenolic and it was better but I was still not happy plus I was worried about what kind of damage it was doing to the cue ball... I like the White diamond it allows me good enough english to draw the CB into the rail when I try to make the eight on the break ... Also it gives me good english on a standard break ... Plus I like the pop I get with them ...And they have a reasonable price...

I believe these tips are not allowed on the Viking Tour. Something to do with the marks they leave on the table I think. Has anyone else heard about this?

White Diamond

I had a early 90's Joss that I had put a white diamond on and liked it a lot.

I currently use a White Diamond tip for my J&J J/B cue and it works great. I have a Barringer J/B tip but I dunno if its worth giving a try since the white diamond is working good.

This is the very best combination I have found in years!

The black ferrule material is a phenolic.

Helps you crush the balls using less power therefore gaining greater control. Great as a jump tip as well. Holds chalk well enough to play full games with.

Thanks for the replies, folks. There are enough White Diamond recommendations that I think I'll have to give it a try.
