Best tip? Layered or regular?

Its time for a new tip for my cue and i was going to go with a moori, but there is a lot of new tips out there...

i was looking at Kamui or sniper but i wonder how they perform vs mooris..

please state the tip of your choice, what density (soft medium hard) you prefer and why you like it.

I used to like triangle tips, but started using moori's and stuck with them ever since.
 
I've used the same sniper tip for about 8 months and haven't reshaped it since it was first put on. It holds it's shape well and the only maintenance that it needs is a little scuffing.
 
i just got a coupe bad moori's they just kept flatting out and getting harder and harder-probably a bad batch, i have used almost everything over the years and sometimes it takes time to get a good tip, its nice when you get one then no headaches until it wears out, I'm on my first Sniper tips and so far i'm happy with them, they dont have alot of play on them but I'm pretty sure they will be fine.
 
Well, i read some other posts on here about tips, and everyone seems to go for either everest or sniper, but i wonder how they compare to moori hard tips.

i've read that there is a 'breaking in' period with these tips where it goes from softy feel to harder ... so i wonder whats up with that.
 
Before I switched over to sniper tips, I was using the Moori Hard tip that came with my cue. For me, the Moori had to be scuffed up every couple of hours because it got too smooth (kinda glassy) and had a hard time holding chalk.
 
I like the Snipers a lot, but my favorite are Tiger Mediums. I tried a medium Kamui and hated it....too hard.
 
I've use sniper and moori before. Still got them.

Moori M:
I like the hit, it got a hard hit. After playing a few times, perhaps 5-8 hours, it will get even harder, but still like it. The negative side on it, it is getting flat really easy. Like Safety said, it's getting smooth, kinda glassy and will not hold chalk very well. So sanding it often is a requirement. The feel is just perfect to me, you will feel the CB bouncing of the tip.

Sniper:
Don't like it really much. It's just too soft to me. It gives me not enough feedback. But it holds the shape very good. After playing I usually use a wet towel and clean the tip. After cleaning it, the tip holds the chalk very well. I reshape it once in the few months.
 
15 years of LePros....then a couple years of Triangle....now I'm sticking with Talisman medium! I have them on all my cues, and luckily my OB-1 came with one.

I've actually been having problems with Moori's lately. They do like the other poster said about getting too glossy and not holding chalk. I've been getting some miscues on a very normal area and I have to scuff it OFTEN to keep it holding well which is a pain. Everest seems to do fine.
 
Kamui Medium-Soft or Soft, I prefer the Softs myself. They play like the old Moori M's IMO.
 
I played with Talisman's for a while but the little shits kept de-laminating on me so I switched back to Triangles and I'm pretty content

I pretty much use Sniper's now on my main shooting cues, but if someone held a gun to my head and told me to use ONE tip on my cues for the rest of my life or else, I would go with a Triangle. They are a very versatile tip that holds chalk like no other.

That's a factual statement, if Triangles were a baseball player they'd be the old school utility man
 
Elk Master! I was watching Corey Duel run 8 racks in a rowof 8 ball at Mr. Cues II one aftenoon and when he was finished I ask him what kind of tip he used because the cue ball just moved with such great control and little effort on his part. He told me and showed it to me and it was an Elk Master and I have used one every since. It works Flawlessly for any game be it One Pocket or 9 Ball. Just don't break with it unless its One pocket. To me the more it wheres down the better it gets IMO. It does need some maintanence but I do not mind it at all and my miss cues are a thing of the past.

Chi,
If you will soak your Elk Master in water (some people use milk) and press it tightly in a vice until dry before the install, it will play even better and not be so quick to mushroom. There are several threads on this subject if you want to do a search here.

I Think Snipers play and have a feel similar to a triangle with out the maintenance.
