Best Tip on the Market - soft to medium

A friend of mine like Zan tips, I think. Whatever tip it was he uses can't find them anymore.

What happened to them? Anyone still have them?

I know this is an old thread. I can say I’ve been using the G2 Soft for a couple maybe even 3 years now. I also notice with a soft tip from personal experience is the storage of the cue. Mine are never exposed to drastic temperature changes which could create moisture. I learned early that leaving my cues in the car for a short period during the winter and bringing inside can cause tip changes do to the drastic swing in temperature. I never use house chalk as I notice it tends to hold more moisture from the humidity in the air making the tip more firm and then playing more medium until getting down a layer to a new fresh layer. Predator chalk has seemed to be the best for my environment for not holding moisture from temp and humidity changes. That and I personally notice the change in time that for me a soft plays into a medium over time which I don’t care for if the tip is becoming old, but others say appears to have plenty of life and no matter how many layers I take off it still isn’t the soft tip I put on.

They do have good lifespans, they’re old school and I don’t think really pushed much anymore because they’re inexpensive and durable if taken care of. All that being said I pulled my LD Pechauer Pro shaft out last night with Jade medium and couldn’t at all get the play with it that my soft that has aged played like. I ended up switching to my CF with my G2 and went rackless and it played near perfect but not like it was fresh. I’m about to go one step farther, even with a great case and care, and I’m going to start using tip protectors to try and preserve the true feel of fresh soft tip. My home clubhouse turns off heat and air during closed hours and we have drastic temp swings from arrival to usually match play and I do believe that can have an effect. Thats my experience. I’d love to hear more personal experience with soft tips and play over the lifespan and preferences or preference change as newer brands have dominated marketing. And to the OP if your still reading and posting I’d like to hear what tip your playing now.

sib blue soft imo at 5.25 a tip

i like the 30 dollar zan soft
but the sib has a nicer hit to it for me
and its much more durable, meaning i scuff each time before i start. to keep the shape and have a good surface. the zan grinds down faster, too fast compared to the sib that is still taller after a longer time of use.
its the perfect tip for me

I prefer the Kamikaze ELETE Medium, but I use Kamui .98 chalk.
Yea I may have a different opinion on it now that v10 has been out and it is what ive been using for a couple years now. But honestly I felt it glazed wayyy to fast, and the black tips were junk that I tried. But everything else from the company seems quality especially for the price point! But also at the price point ultra skin pro's and SIB cool blue and originals are great!

G2 med tips on both shafts for my main playing cue , my back up cue has a Techno dud tip on it but I don't use it very often after I became more familiar with my now main shooting cue , it was a interesting transformation or a great adventure if you would for me that I'm glad happened .

After this thread, I went with a G2 soft. It hardened up an awful amount for me as it got shorter but now that I read your post I see a reason why it may have happened.... The summer was awfully humid amd my cue didn't get much play.

Either way, my G2 soft started a lil squishy, was great for a while, then it hardened like mad and felt/sounded awful. Iput a Kamui SS back on (even tho it's a 'super soft', hardness is a lil higher than wheretheG2 starts). Of all the softtips I've played, the G2 hardened the most on me, tho I guess the humid conditions could have contributed to that. Seems to drastic tbh. Maybe it got wet somehow or maybe I just got a dud. Euther way, I hated it by the end. Played great for a while tho. Couldn't be happier with my Kamui back on the cue, but will def try Ultraskin next.

The Ultraskin Fire gets hard quickly. Go softer.

I still like Elkmaster Medium Milkduds.

From another post but its about soft tips -----a synthetic tip---the Bulletproof Recoil playing tip (not break) ($30 @ PoolDawg):

The only thing that seems strange is they're supposed to "last forever" so you wonder about the desire to sell something like that for the same price as tips that people replace annually or more often.

Bulletproof Recoil Full Synthetic Playing Tip

Bulletproof RECOIL Full Synthetic Playing Tip offers unmatched performance and durability. Vegan-friendly, no mushrooming or flattening. Available in Soft, Medium, and Hard. Shop Today!

Who offers 'duds in a guaranteed medium hardness? I've never hit two duds that were even close in hardness. A good one is fine but there's no consistency. Are Outsville duds consistent?

I make my own. I've hit with the Outsville Dud though and I liked it.

The grippyness of the Elkmaster shines through no matter if its my dud or the Outsville dud.

I try not to be too picky about hardness.

I've recently switched to Taom Fusion tips and have been very happy with them. They grip the ball more than the SIB Pro that I had on before and hold their shape really well.

Do they produce a true medium hardness tip?
