Best tips for big table

perhaps ya right Tramp.

Let's talk about Women ! :wink::smile:

That's the "other" aim- point- shoot topic isn't it ?!?

If you ask "what tip do you use on a big table" it pretty much states that you would use different tips on a different table, which is where the whole discusion came from, and which you brought up, so you did ask if you need to consider table size if you meant to or not. A bit like another poster that asked about a rule but then posted that he cheated a bit, he got lots of replies with "only a low life would cheat like that" and he also got upset when he "just asked a question about rules".

The correct question to avoid confution should have been just "What tip do you like to use?", of which there are about 100 posts about already. Or maybe even "Does table size make a difference in what equipment you use". Not that would have been an OK post unless you started to argue with people that said NO hehe.

I like the Kamui Soft Black if this is just about tips. But those tend to harden up pretty quick so I'm looking around for a similar feeling tip that does not feel like a Hard tip after a few months.

Correct, it does mean that if i played on a bar box all the time, I'd use a softer tip. I'm sorry if you disagree, but thats how it is. However, I did not ask anyone at any point whether or not I need to consider table size for tip selection. Thats just the band wagon a few people decided to jump on. I already know that I consider that, so I'm not in search of that answer.... Thank you for your response on a tip though. I tried a few different kamuis. I had a super soft original and I cut it off the first time I played with it. I'm using the black M now. I like the way it plays but a little inconsistant throughout its life

Women

anyone have a "tip Preference?"

Dunn, my old friend, you're playing to this guy. He's trolling.
How this thread has progressed to the point it has, based on such a ridiculous question in the first place, is beyond me.

If you think I'm "trolling", then you haven't read thoroughly. I genuinely asked a simple question and was looking for a genuine, simple answer. I narrowed my question, instead of just asking the typical"whats the best tip", I asked what people that frequently play on big tables prefer. I don't even know what trolling is, but I'm under the impression you think I came here looking for trouble, and thats not the case at all

Pse217, please... I beg your forgiveness. You are correct, my input to this forum is a total waste as compared to your golden contributions.

I'm new to the site, so yes, your contributions may have more worth than mine. Congratulations. And you haven't said one thing that tells me you have any value. I'm not saying you have no knowledge because I don't know you,but you've yet to say anything relevent or worth-while yet, so I personally do doubt the value of you, especially when you say things sarcastically like "my input on this forum is a total waste"...Sounds like you value your self-worth a bit much. All you've done is assume I have no pool capabilities and made personal bashes for no reason. You've been far from invaluable so far

Would you allow for the remote possibility that, as a newcomer, you may be partially at fault for the reception you have received?

I did you give you input in my second posting. You chose to ignore it and believe something else.

If you actually want my opinion... a GOOD LePro tip is awfully hard to beat. The good news here is the last box of LePros that I bought has had NO bad ones so far. I've used ~20 on my own and other folks' cues and all have been good. The better news is that you can buy an entire box of 50 for less than the cost of some esoteric tips.

Triangle tips are excellent - again if you find good ones. A wee bit harder than LePro but perform well on my playing cue.

The Ultra Skin tips sold on here by Tom Hay have received many accolades so far. He has a sale going on at http://forums.azbilliards.com/showthread.php?t=322425&highlight=ultra+skins (I think it's still going on). So I think they would be well worth a try and will probably do so. I'm not generally a fan of layered tips as I think they offer very little gain (along with additional problems) compared to standard leather tips. Tom is offering those tips at a very reasonable price.

I hope you will find something in this post worthy of your attention.

I play a very often on a big table, I have one in my basement. I use a Kamui medium, but I use it more because I like the feel. I cant say I would want a different tip for league play on bar boxes.

Thanks. I've heard in the past that Lepros are great if you get a good one. It would be nice to be able to tell whether its a good one or not before you install it. I don't have a table at home and I'm not sure I want to cart a lathe to the pool hall just for experimentation of tips (its not easy to move around). I haven't used anything other than a layered tip in probably two years so I may give a lepro a try just for something new. Do you know anything about the new kamui clears? They are suppose to resolve the consistency problem that people have with their traditional tips

Do I think I'm at fault because I'm new to a site? No...thats ridiculous. When a visitor comes to your house for the first time, do you bash them and tell them that they deserve crap treatment because they've never been there before? Maybe I'm not understanding you

Which one? Medium black or original?

Some folks do a water test on their LePro tips. I've not seen the need to do that so far. The water test amounts to dumping them into a container of water and rejecting the ones that float.

That would have proven to be a waste of time on this box of newer LePro that I have.

No, the reason for your reception is not because you are new. You asked question(s) that have been asked repeatedly on this forum (in one way or another) umpteen times. Your response to the comments has largely been condescending and know it all (you are doing better now) even though most of the comments were really pushing you in the right direction.

The point I tried to make earlier is that it doesn't matter what I or even the majority of posters here use or recommend, although that might give you a not so brief list of tips to try. What matters is which tip behaves and plays as YOU want it to and which tip is most desirable in YOUR opinion. If you now have a list of 12 tip types to try based on answers in this thread, the choice has been narrowed tremendously but you still have to make the choice.

And since you like layered tips, I would really suggest you give those UltraSkins a try. A cue maker friend of mine is now highly recommending them.

I don't think this forum is for me. Thanks to those who replied non-maliciously

100% of the replies are non-malicious, you're taking stuff personally that isn't personal :/
People are trying to give you advice that they think will help you down the road.

Or, they're just trying to look smart. But even then, that's not personal.
Nobody's thinking "Whoever PSE is, I decided I hate him and want to attack him".

If you seek out another forum, good luck, cuz they all feature people with opinions
you may not wanna hear.

Calm down. Take a deep breath. Thank whatever god or power you believe in for not being called a reincarnation of ChrisBanks, Poolkiller or Pocketpoint yet and for not being threatened with a ban. Don't worry, you're not the only one who got gangbeaten because they were new. This forum is run by bullies, trolls and all other types of lowlives, so better get used to it.
