Best US player: Archer or SVB?

... (FWIW, Hatch came in second to "The Rifleman" Buddy Hall in the finals of the US Open sometime in the early 90's...Terry Ardeno, sfleinen, or JoeyA could probably give us the exact date.)

1991. Buddy Hall def. Dennis Hatch 9-8.

In a race to 100, 10 Ball format I dont see any American getting to 90 against Shane. Just my opinion based off of what I have seen.

I know that no American will play him a race to 100 ten ball on a neutral Diamond. His break is just too much. Same with Bar Table 8 ball. I don't know of any US player who will play a long set with him for the cash. Actually I don't know of any player in the world who would play a long set of Bar Table 8 Ball with Shane for the cash.

Like I said just my opinion off of what I have seen.

Someone prove me wrong and lets get a match together.

People will say nobody wants to play Archer, but the fact of the matter is,Archer refuses to play on a neutral table, being a Diamond.Same as asking for a spot IMHO.But in later years that will not be the story. The story will be Shane could not have beat a younger Archer.Shane is the man and most know it.I have respect for Archer, but I don't think he is Shanes speed

After SVB Beat Scott Frost on the bar table I go into the pool hall the next day and am playing some cheap sets with Scott when SVB comes in. Scott starts to bark at SVB to play some one pocket with him. SVB says you gotta give me a big spot. Scott said I'll give you 9-8 on my break and even on yours. SVB says he'd rather give Scott the 8 playing ten ball. Scott says "Why?" SVB says "Cause I don't want everyone in the world to know I'm the best one pocket player too!" It was in jest of course but damn funny.

My money would be on SVB unless he's playing Lee Van Corteza.

mikeyfrost , That would have been a great u tube moment, you should have had it on fideo, that is so funny. What a comeback.

One of the other posters was right, 1/2 on a Gold Crown, 1/2 on a Diamond, both at a neutral place. Peteypool is right it will be a shame if it never happens and people can only compare them years from now and say what if. Come on TAR, tell them the heart and soul of pool AZ, wants to see it happen.
