well this time he has it listed as local pickup..... but at 4k..... he's insane. I mean i got it for 2k on ebay before he backed out....lol
 
ive took on a few scammers legally with success and been on the news a few times locally for it. i just wanted to ask if whomever got scammed for the lathe the first time ,wrote a check to him ,did you ever get your money back or at the least file mail fraud against this guy. i spent about 2 years studing scams although not one like this if i can help i would like too. thanks, eric i am not some know it all i just really really hate scamms and had success with the ones i went after.

That would be me. I managed to leverage the local law in his area to get most of my money back. The sheriff up there threatened him with criminal charges if he didn't pay back every cent which he did not and the threat was not carried through. He sent me a money order for a grand and a bunch of used pool stuff I sold for about 700. I contacted the sheriff and he told me that now that the money in question was a smaller sum it's a civil matter. I ended up stuck about $500. I also filed a mail fraud claim against him with zero action taken by the postal inspection other than a letter acknowledging my complaint. That system is a joke.

If you have any practical ideas I haven't used I'm all ears.

one more thing you can do is file a suit against him. ive paid for peoples suits just to have the crook served at work. they almost always settle before court but if even if they dont ,to me, in my county its only 197.00 to file a suit and have them served by the sherriff. if you want to get back at him call the court house in the city he lives and ask them how much to file and serve. if its worth it to you.
i did want to say thank you very much for your post , it really helps people like me that are looking as well as hurts his chances. keep it up and thanks, i really mean it.
 
oh i just had to say this. i completely agree with you on the government agencies being completely worthless. i tried every agency known to man and i finally decided on a rule.be as nice as you possibly can and maybe just maybe 1 out of every 20 people you talk to will do something. it was such a wake up call knowing that people can get just blatently ripped off and there is not one agency that wants to help, mind you they should and could but they just dont other than sending a letter. we are truly on our own when things go wrong. the only thing that got the ball rolling was some of the people saw me on the news and did not want to be someone i talked about next time. worthless worthless government!!! im done venting now,
