Agree here. The "sorry I don't have your money anymore" excuse is pretty lame. It takes longer to transfer it out of paypal than it took for the cue to arrive and the buyer to be unhappy.

May I suggest taking screen captures of your entire communication over text messaging with brain71? The site admin look at that and see that he never mentioned it was the butt only. That means the fault would be directly on the seller and that you should receive no bad itrader for this.

Paypal is a pain in the ass for cue sellers because funds do not get released until the buyer confirms the deal.
If the buyer squawks, the seller doesn't get his money. The buyer can add 3% to the payment so the seller doesn't have to get
shorted on the full payment due to Paypal fees.......the system works in most instances. Some sellers refuse to deal with Paypal
and it doesn't mean the seller isn't honest but does suggest proceeding with due caution for one's own self-protection, i.e., red flag.

cooperative, the individual can still have Larceny in his heart as you personally experienced. The Forum is a great tool but it can be
a swamp when you encounter a scumbag seller like you did.

So he screwed you over, basically stole from you and then leaves a Negative.
I think that shows you that he never had intentions of making the deal proper with you.
I wouldn't worry about the Rep. It has happened before and the Mods or owners straighten it out quick.
I can see in these times that people are having a hard go of things, employment and all but that is no reason to be dishonest when dealing with people. This one will haunt him

Reputation and itrader are completely separate. Don't worry about the reputation IMO.

It's not "textbook", nor mail fraud at all. In order to be mail fraud, the unscrupulous manner by which the transaction was carried out would have to done by MAIL. Which is to say that the misrepresentation...ect...ect.. would all be done by mail. Using the Postal service as a vessel for a PAYMENT is NOT mail fraud.
Consider this a cheap lesson. Don't trust anyone. Even friends you have know most of your life will drop off the face of the earth if you loan them enough money. I KNOW this.
I once sent 2800.00 to a member of a phtography forum. MY mistake. I had to use some VERY unconventional(think along the lines of The Godfather, but without a dead animals head) methods to get my money back and, even then, it took quite some time.
Before you go calling law enforcement, let me save you some time. They won't care. It is a civil matter, so you could sue. 125.00? IF he lives within 30 miles of you, it is possible(if your time is worth nothing) to break even I suppose.
