Big money pool tournaments in out of the way places.

I was recently visiting family in Washington State, and found a copy of a pool newspaper in a little bar called The Break, I had never seen before.

Apparently it is printed in Three Forks Montana, (that is apparently near Bozeman) but what surprised me most was that I can read it on line monthly, and some of the big money added tournaments are in little out of the way places.

Surprised to see places like Great Fall, MT with a $5,000.00 add, Bozeman, Mt $3,000.00 add, Billing MT $3,000.00 add, Port Angeles, WA $1,100.00 add, Longview, WA $1,000.00 add, Rugby, ND $3,000.00 Guaranteed First.

We have no Pool like this where I live, and I wish I could relocate to the Northwest where there seems to be a lot of big money pool tournaments.

It's nice that they have a lot of tournaments out there but I wouldn't call any of then Big Money events. Johnnyt

Where is, "where I live"? We have the same complaints from pool players here in AL, but then when there are $1000+ added tournaments only 27 players will show up.

Yeah The Break is a nice paper with tourney results up and down the west coast to Montana and into Arizona. There are a bunch of tourneys around, just depends how far you want to drive to get there. Tourneys like the Longview, WA $1000 added tourney is like this. $40 entry+$10 green fee with a 64 player max. The green fee makes them $640 so the casino adds $360 of their own money to the pot. Still get $1000 + 64 * $40 = $3,560 in the pot. First is usually around $1000 on a full field. Rarely do they get a full field though.

There is also another paper based in Oregon called "On the wire" (hmmm is that right? seems to be) that also covers a lot of different areas and includes the Pechauer tour stops. You can also read on line.

Better have more than a "shortstop" game if you plan on winning these...as the $$$ paid increase, so does the skills of the players. There are some pretty good shooters in the Pacific Northwest.
