I was just looking thru the brackets of the Swanee tournament and noticed Bill Houck's name. It's been nearly 30 years since I first saw Bill play. Back at Eddie's billiards in Oxnard, playing Whataburger Al or Dirty Harry straight pool. The man had/has the sweetest smoothest stroke I have ever seen, bar none. I was just a punk kid and he probably doesn't remember me, but the way he played the game and treated those around him had a profound impact on me. Glad to see he's still playing.

He still plays good. I asked him when he is going to stop beating up on all these kids, and he responded "When I can't play anymore is when i'm gonna quit". Short and sweet.

Sounds just like Bill. I'm sure he had that grin on his face as he said it too.

Bill won the USPPA tournament up in Reno a few years ago, so he can play. On top of that, Bill still plays almost every day, at the Bent Cue, in Newberry, CA...just a few miles up the road from where he lives (Simi Valley). If you see him, tell him I said 'hi'!

Yeah Bill still plays strong. He also has good speed control, and a good safety game. I guess that comes with decades of playing.

He's gotta be what... 65? But he looks a bit older than he really is. Also, for an old guy he's got a great break. I think it's because he's smooth and has good timing that allows him to break open the rack so well.
