Billiards as a way to teach proper behavior

All my years of playing pool in competition settings finally paid off in a non pool related way.

I effectively sharked researchers into an emerging tech space.

It felt like being in the hot seat as my opponent runs a perfect set but then leaves that one opening.

I've felt charged up at the opening and knew to maintain my composure. Then I played the runout as if it had been waiting for me the entire time.

Its unclear how early experiences will translate decades later. Today is one I would like to share with the main forum.

The pool room is constantly described as full of people with habits. Outside of the poolroom you never know how that person will turn out.

In pool its almost impossible to peak, it always easier to say if I had more practice.

Today was the day I knew the table layout, I knew when the moment would appear and I never felt closer to the day I could show all the skills I practiced in one showing. Pool has been in my rearview, but the experiences I developed are with me. Just like how all the opponents shaped me as I built my seasoning.

This is dedicated to all the better players that stick around. Showing them the pool standard works and its important to know when and how to apply pressure. Thanks to you to all the players that played the game the right way.

I have played with the idea of billiards as a corporate training activity.

Playing the shot versus playing the safe is a great thought exercise for organization leader.

This is why pool needs more phrases that simplify complex situations into decision patterns.

Tats dum.

The majority of your potential customers probably never hit a ball more than a couple times a year, and you want them to be aware of and make decisions about offense or defense...

I've professionally tried to get people be aware of a number line however that idea is too abstract. Offense and defense is popular sports language and makes it exciting. Introducing how to appreciate pool from the business side, its one of the first global sports. Billiards has been doing what the NFL and NBA are trying to do now.

Billiards is ahead of the curve on social media, I've been active here since I was an undergrad. How many other communities are as cohesive as billiards? There is a strong business sense rooted in billiards promotion. Most other sports athletes age out, not in billiards.

It was also one of the first documented sports in American history. It feels like billiards has all the right pieces for going at scale. The pressure limiting billiards is going to be the WPA contract debate. Billiards has a history of labor management, hustler and backer. If I had more time I could publish the gambling variances and the legal assault on pool halls.

Billiards should be discussed at the academic level. There is so much to draw on.

You are in fantasyland, with your captive 'custoner base'.

I guarantee you much of upper management would tell you they have much to do that actually impacts business outcomes and they find negative value in your pool ponderings.

I do similar levels of organization. With pool it was always my youth hobby I kept alive for value purposes. Most people kill off their youth hobby or interest after their 20s. This is why sports culture is important in America.

Sports culture is the other community space outside of schools and the workplace. Pool sports culture is a great equalizer for people of all types. It is easy to count how many untrained men would take the losing end of a proposition bet in pool against a trained female competitor.

If the women started talking about what they go through to play the pool at their level, men would be like WTF?

Outside of sports women receive unwanted attention all the time. In pool there is the OK corral and some women know and some women do not know about it.

Your add makes it.difficult to engage in dialogues.

Please look at the flow of the exchange before 'responding and if you expand on the matter, read before submitting to ensure the relation of new/ old is clear.

You know anybody outside of school-world that is in executive management of a big company? They generally are not interested in lesser folks make simple things require mental investments.

If you aren't adding value, you aren't working.

Your fantasies in the pool world are bad enough, but the idea that you could play in the corporate world outside the sheltered bubble of low level academia is laughable.

The corporate world, who do they pay to get the best research?

In the pool world I've met some who are just brilliant people and others who have very short attention spans and trouble reading and comprehending a post more than a paragraph long.
The ones that can't read at all are not spending time on a web forum but there are many here who can't make sentences or spell, and get frustrated trying to read a longer post and feel a need to lash out as a result. They still may be great pool players.

Someone finally called you out for your brutally long posts and all you can do is make snide remarks.

Learned long ago, if you raise your kids in a pool room with adults, it's pretty inexpensive schooling....do just the opposite of idiots.
