Billiards/Carom Instructors

Funny thing! In 1985 when I watched Efren doing things that the rest of the field couldn't even approach. That was at the Sands in Reno.
I did my research and found Billiards well right after Rotation. With the knowledge that Billiards Digest had named Willie Hoppe player of the century, it seemed basic to read his book. 🤷‍♂️
While my table had holes it was simple enough to practice and to a degree pick up what he was laying down. 🤷‍♂️
As for how good do I play? Reminds me of the scene from The Hustler. Showing up to find the table has no pockets. If we can make a game, I will play for everything I have in my pockets. Harry used to make the team empty their pockets to establish the stakes in the one pocket.
Today I have 600 and change......you wanna play some?
I always wanna play 3c, my billiards brother!

Sometimes I even play pocket pool.

I woke up from my nap.
I thought it was Australian billiards because Walter Lindrum was Australian. It is however English billiards. My favorite because if you make the ball and scratch its a good thing. 🤷‍♂️
Seems you can play it on
any pocket table. Walter however played on a full size 12 foot table.

For those that want to test their 18.2 balkline skills.

In around 64,65, Bud Harris told me, Welker Cochran used to set the balls (as diagramed) to test his student's ability to delicately keep the OB and CB on the cushion and straddle the balkline to score on the red ball.

The OB and CB are frozen to the short rail at the balkline. The shot is to have the CB contact the OB and it travels to the long rail and stays on the short to come back and kiss the CB & red gently, trying to keep the OB and CB on the cushion.
If a student could score 5 with the kiss, they could advance to the next level.
