Bill Webb

Not long ago thanks to help of my friend Alex Altamirano from Hot Springs, Arkansas who was like a family to Bill i got this beautiful Billy Webb Palmwood cue which is one of the last cues Bill built. Palmwood is not an easy wood to work with but Bill was never afraid of hard work and accepting demanding tasks.
There are no many cue makers for whose work i have more appreciation than i have for Bill. And not only that his workmanship is always great but his cues are stone cold players. One of the best playing cues for sure.

Enjoy the photos

About Billy Webb

Well Billy Webb, known on AZ Billiards as Spiderweb has finally received the recognition for his work that he deserves. The July-August edition of inside pool magazine has featured Billy Webb as the Cue maker of the month in their Cue Makers Corner, Written By AZ Member Fred Agnir.

Billy Webb, has worked for many years on perfecting his cue making abilities. Billy was a very humble individual who rarely tut-es his own horn, and this more than anything has prevented him from receiving the recognition he greatly deserves. Billy builds his cues along the lines and using the parabolic taper developed by David Paul Kersenbrock and also used in South West and bender Custom Cues.

Billy mostly built cues that have six points three high and three low with Veneers in most cases. However, over the years Billy has been perfecting Butterfly Spliced cues in addition to his six point cues. The Butterfly Spliced cues that Billy has been perfecting Butterfly Spliced cues in addition to his six point cues. The Butterfly Spliced cues that Billy Builds are very unique and include a combination of standard points in conjunction with Butterfly points. Very few cue makers can make cues that are even similar to these Butterfly cues due to the overlapping veneers form Butterfly Splice to Butterfly splice. As I have stated above Billy is very humble and plainly states that Paul Fanellli and Kyle Van Den Bosch (Mariposa Cue Company) make the best around. Here is a direct quote made by Billy in another post concerning the two previous mentioned cue maker.

I just rejoined the forum too days ago, I have been in South Korea since 2014. I owned Full Splice Billiards in Lakewood, Washington and Billy was personal friend. I use to sell his cues in Washington, and also here on Azbilliards, Billy was a very humble who would do anything for his friends but never suffered fools well.

thanks for starting this thread, he was one of the most underrated Cue Maker in the United States.. I sincerely hope he gets the recognition he deserves someday.

Welcome back!
I am so glad to see you post!

Your old posts are still invaluable resources.

I look forward to hearing more from you.

I was away from AZB for five years and returned a few months ago. I have frequently lamented your absence.

Welcome back
Hello Mike, I sincerely hope you and yours are doing well. Dam shame we lost Billy, he was the most humble and trusting man I have ever known. Interesting story, one day I received a phone from someone who identified himself as Billy Webb. I had just opened my pool room in Lakewood, Washington about three months prior. Anyway, we get to taking and he tells me he makes custom cues, and that he used to live in Seattle, Washington.

Then, out if the clear blue sky he asks me if I would sell some of his cues out of my pool room. I told him sure, keep in mind we have never met before except for this phone call. We continued talking for at least an hour, however the conversation about when he would send some cues and how I would compensate him for them was never discussed. Well, we exchanged information and he said he would give me another call next week. Well, two days later, about $6000 worth of custom cues arrive priority mail, needless too say I was very surprised.

So, that’s how our friendship began, Sadly, we never met in person, only by phone calls. I ended up selling thousands of dollars of Bills cues from 2004 through 2012. Billy never asked for any money up front, he would just send more cues as I sold out my inventory. I am really sorry he is gone, over the years we had a few conversations after I moved to Korea. Yesterday, when I found this thread it made me a little sick inside, but it also brought back some fantastic memories, I am certain Billy is laughing as I write this.😄😄😄

Take care Michael.

Thanks very much Doc your too kind my friend. It seems like many of us old timers are returning, hopefully we can help get this place jumping like it used to back in the day. Back then there was never a dull moment, something interesting was always happening.

Again, thanks very much for the kind words Doc, I really appreciate it man.

Oh and by the way. I sincerely hope that you and yours are healthy and doing very well.

We are well thanks. Hope the same for you and yours.

I came back and immediately pissed off some of the natives. LOL!

Yeah, old timers...we have lost a few to a better place...sadly.

Glad some are still around, and glad to see any come back.

This place needs some excitement! Too many run off to that dark pit called Facebook I think.

And now we have all these carbon fiber shafts, synthetic tips, and butts made out of God knows what.

We need more pretty wood!

I'm on an ebony kick right now.

Yes we certainly have, do they have a specific thread where that information is posted?

I certainly agree, the old Azbilliards use to hop man, I use to issues with a Moderator his name was Mr. Wilson, glad he is no longer in that position.

That crap makes me sick, hopefully it’s just a fad that will go the way of the Dinosaurs.

We certainly need more beautiful wooden cues displayed, I mean cues use to be sexy, now there like fake boobs. LOL I also love ebony, it’s hard not to love my friend.👍👍👍

Grim task.
It is and it isn’t, what got me thinking about it was all the digging I had to do to find out about Bill Webb. That thread can be a place where friends of the deceased say good buy, and add stories about things that happened during their friendship. I already contacted J2, so he can contact Mike to make sure it’s ok and to make it a sticky thread.

☮️ Doc.

One of the issues is the search function here won't accept short words. RIP is too short. Want to look for a SLY cue? Too short. So I use Google to search the forums a lot, the forum is indexed on Google. It would be a bit of a job to go back and find them.

I thin it's a great Idea. A "Legacy Member" thread. A sort of monument wall with their names, where people can post. A sticky thread in the main forum.

For me, one that comes to mind immediately and makes my heart ache is Tikkler, Steve Piesner. He was kind to me. I was humbled that he befriended me.

Players, collectors, cue makers, characters...it takes all kinds to make this community. Great friends, acquaintances, sometimes people we only know in the forum. Sometimes they are on the other side of the country, or on the other side of the planet.

If you take up the cause I would back you up and help as much as I can. We would need to get the administration to make it a sticky thread.
