A bit about moderation. What worked for those old timers won't work for you. The food supply has been completely compromised. Our idea of what is healthy is completely compromised.
So eating what they thought was moderation would not be good for us because our wheat and corn supplies are compromised. Our meat is compromised. Eating the same way your parents and grandparents did would not yield the same results.
Also, our idea of what constitutes moderation is completely wrong. We think eating lowfat and throwing in some steak or eggs or bacon once in a while is 'everything in moderation.' In reality that's a very exreme eating plan. Your grandparents and parents ate a LOT more fat than we do now. And it was better fat. They ate less zero nutrition carbohydrates. They also ate almost no soy oil, canola oil or hydrogenated anything. Sugar was sugar, not high fructose corn syrup.
Yes, everything in moderation. Have a martini with your ribeye steak and sweet potatoes. Just make sure you cook your vegetables in bacon grease or olive oil and stay away from the low fat dessert. Instead have real cake made with lard, eggs and sugar. Not soybean oil, processed wheat and high fructose corn syrup.
