How would using birch for a core change the sound/feel of a cue?

It would be pretty similar to sugar maple and maybe a little heavier. Red birch is heavier, yellow is about the same s.g.. It's not a bad choice but it has a little bigger difference between tangential and radial shrinkage I've been using some 40 year old yellow birch for certain cues and it's great.
Atlas sells laminated birch core as well as the maple lam.
