I could use a little help. My mother-in-law is seriously ill. Because of that situation,I'm going to be in Birmingham for about a week ( the second week of Feb.) I'd really appreciate a little info about where to go and what to do ( pool wise ) while I'm there. I think I'll have a lot of time to kill while my wife is spending time at the hospital.
Thanks for your help

And just remember .....

if your beating some local out of his beer money and he says "I gotta go out to my truck for a minute, I'll be right back." Don't worry about checking the balls back in, just throw a $20 on the counter on your way out the door.

:D

Absolutely! Those folks in Alabam are some weird folks. Still think the war is on. North v. south that is. Most of them never caught up to 9/11. I'd be pretty dang careful and stay away from comments about fat women with no teeth. Might be someone's girlfriend! Worse yet, someone's sister! Just the same, Randy Newman wrote a nice song about the town. Ugh.

My sentiments exactly.

Why so harsh on people from Alabama, their are idiots everywhere!

i live in the bowel of pool hell now... otherwise known as Birmingham... i'll try to answer any questions you have via pm

B'ham......

There is a decent room just north of downtown. (it is in a small industrial area) Can't remember the name right now. Other than that, there is a place in Pelham, about 20 mins south on 65. (I think its called Poppa's billiards) Owners are real nice and the room is clean. There are quite a few bars in the 5 corners area, (slightly east of downtown behind the university dorms) but the action is tough, and you might not make it out with the money! ;o) Good luck, there are a few good places for you. Hope your MIL gets well soon, Scott :D :D :D :D

where's the room to the north? i moved here in august and haven't heard of it... since i only moved from tuscaloosa i should've heard of it before anyway... please let me know

In Pelham 15 mins south of Bham - Poppa's
In Hoover 9 mins south of Bham - Bumpers
Downtown Bham - the Break (don't waste your time)

Numerous bars. I live 50 mins away and you are more than welcome to come play at the house. There are also tournaments nearly everyday that I can steer you to if you play well. PM me.

You guys that play at Bumpers....do you know a little Hispanic guy named Jesus by chance?? :D

Never met the Jesus you speak of. There is a fair hispanic player in Bham named Jesse, but that is the only guy I know of. I play at Bumpers fairly regularly.

short little guy built like a mini wrestler?? LOL. Yeah, that's my friend Jesus. I forgot that he goes by Jesse once he moved over there.

Poppas Billiards in Pelham is awesome. My wife and I were there last summer for a week. Owner is very nice and there is plenty of action there.
