that is an awesome bday present...!

here is a question... how in the world do you splice something like that and have it shaped like at the base of the points.. i can see if you inlay afterwords but how would you get that shape when it looks clearly one piece with the forearm??

it's inlayed at the base of the original splice with a similar light maple wood and the same with the point tips with cocobolo. it's just hard to see at the angle the pics was taken.

Looks can be deceiving. ;)
I like Josey designs. You got a nice one there.

thanks marcus. the birdseye is fairly clean but the cocobolo is outstanding. the tight grain coco' he uses for the ring work looks great in person and the thin silver rings just set them off nicely also. the shaft fits tight as a surgeon's glove and the cues is a perfect 19.4 ounces. even though i've only dry hit with it, the cue hit's jam-up! keith told me i could put it up for sale if i wan't but i think i'll keep my present at least for a little while. ;)

I'M GLAD YOU LIKE IT TIM, IT'S EVEN NICER THAN THE LAST ONE YOU HAD.

HE SHOULD HAVE THROWN YOU A IVORY TOWER FOR YOUR B-DAY, NOW THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN ONE HELL OF A PRESENT.

does that cue on the left have lizard or leather?

chris

it's a stamped, lizard print leather wrap. it looks and feels exactly the same and will last just as long and is close to half the price. also when they stamp the leather it's done in big sheets with a random pattern being distributed over the whole sheet so when it's cut down to wrap size no two wraps are exactly alike. it's awesome.

Actually, aside from being more economical, the lizard print leather will way outlast actualy lizard. Genuine lizard is gorgeous and while it does have a slightly different feel to it, it tends to flatten out far faster than the leather will. Nice sneaky skins.

...and as far as matching up the woods on the inlay at the base of the splice, excellent job. In the close up, you can't even see a difference or a line of any kind!

yeah.. i couldnt see the line either.. thats why i asked... very impressive..

chris

when the woods can come together great like that it makes the cue that much nicer. keith does a great job on his custom sneakys and you always get the most cue for the money when you buy one of these type of cues from him.
