People in my neck of the woods really value the Black Boar cue brand. There's one local in my area who collects these cues and is hanging onto them.
Tony used to have -- may still -- a cool pool shop where he produced his fine wares. He also has donated Black Boar cues to regional tours, his way of sponsoring pool, and sometimes the recipients were more excited about getting the cue than the almighty win at the tournament. :grin-square:
I've had the honor of sitting on the rail with him a few times. First impression is that he's an extremely intelligent man, but you soon find out his passion for cuemaking is really what makes him tick, aside from a fine cigar, tasty spirits, and good company.
One time he went on to explain to me that my other half had a "double fulcrum" in his stroke, and that another play who had a double fulcrum in his stroke was Efren Reyes.
Now I'm thinking these two guys' strokes are quite different. What, are you kidding me? But then Tony went on to explain what a double fulcrum is, and it goes like this: A good stroke, not a poke, is a stroke that accelerates throught the cue ball. This is accomplished much like a golf swing by bending two places simultaneously during the stroke. For example bending at the shoulder and elbow or, upper arm and wrist, etc. Some pool players from the Philippines offer good examples of a fluid accelerating stroke.
Here's a cute shot I took of Tony with his fine cigar, Keith with his tasty spirits, and Nick Mannino who's always good company. Where is that Nick? I haven't seen him in a long while.
