the most expensive black collection i know of is owned by a guy here in nyc(unless he unloaded it). he was totally infatuated with black, and bought over a dozen at $7000 and up. i think the cheapest(and best playing) was a titleist/ivory butt for $2800 they were supposed one of a kind(maybe changes in materials, i don't know)

I Certainly Didn't Have The Most Expensive Black Collection, Or The Most Blacks In Any Collection, But I Had 26 Of His Cues In My Collection At The Same Time.(i Haven't Found Those Photos Yet) If My Memory Serves Me Right I've Owned About 50-55 Blacks'. Most In My Collection Were One Of A Kinds Or Limited Stuff. The Basic Stuff I Just Bought And Sold To Pay For My Addiction.

the titelist black is only made for people who own 12 or more of richards cues!! because he prides himself on hisconstruction!and does not like using other peoples blanks

I HAD ONE OF THOSE CONVERSIONS, NICE CUE. IT IS A CORY OF RICHARDS PLAYING CUE. BEVELED BUTT LIKE AN OLD BRUNSWICK, WITH A FLAT FACED IVORY JOINT. I HAD TO HAVE 20 CUES BEFORE RICHARD BUILT MINE. GUESS I DIDN'T SPEND ENOUGH CASH TO GET IT AFTER 12 CUES.

THANKS FOR THE KIND WORDS, I APPRECIATE IT. I AM MUCH HAPPIER WITH THE COLLECTION I HAVE NOW, BUT IF IT WASN'T FOR A FEW SMALL SITUATONS, I MAY STILL BE COLLECTING BLACKS. BUT LIKE THEY SAY, "THE STRAW THAT BROKE THE CAMELS BACK". IT WAS JUST ENOUGH SMALL INSTACES TO MAKE ME CHANGE MY FOCUS.

I TALKED ABOUT THAT WITH A FRIEND LAST NIGHT. I'VE OWNED ABOUT 100 CUSTOMS, AND PROBABLY ABOUT 200 CUES TOTAL.

Personal Cues

Ooo-weee!!! That ebony 8-point lights my fire!

THANKS FOR THE NICE WORDS. THE TWO EIGHT POINT CUES WITH THE FIRE VENEERS WERE CUES I HAD BUILT BY RICHARD TO MY SPECS. THE EBONY FOREARMED CUE WAS MY PERSONAL PLAYING CUE. IF YOU NOTICE IT EVEN HAS A SHORT BUTT WITH A LONGER WRAP. I HAD IT MADE THAT WAY, AT THE TIME I HELD MY BACK HAND PRETTY FAR BACK. BY EXTENDING THE WRAP, IT ALLOWED ME TO KEEP MY HAND ON THE WRAP, INSTEAD OF HALF ON AND HALF OFF. THE OTHER BRIGHT COLORED EIGHT POINT IS A VARIATION OF THE BUSHKA WITH EXTRA RINGS, BRIGHTER VENEERS AND THE FOUR SHORT POINTS. THAT WAS THE FIRST CUE I ORDERED FROM RICHARD. THOSE WERE THE ONLY TWO THAT I HAD A HARD TIME, EMOTIONALLY, PARTING WITH.

I don't blame you for having trouble selling them. I still have my only Black cue that I designed and he built in 1980. It is nowhere close to those two though. Thanks for sharing the pics!

special pinnacle

The seventh cue from the top is a "Pinnacle" correct? That is about my favorite cue by Richard.

yes that is the pinnacle. i actually had three of those cues. the one in the picture was special. that cue was unplayed, brand new, in a brand new centennial case, included from richard with the cue in 85. three shafts with ivory ferrules(all unplayed) with the original shipping box from richard, with the cod total on it. that was the best know example of the pinnacle, i had ever seen.
