'alltablesports' sell a Yalin BCN for $5K (delivered & installed ?)

I looked at them but got one locally instead brand new (last one - old stock / old style - chinese no name cheapie - "uylin" rubber is the only label) for $3k delivered & installed. they were hack installers btw - grrrr.
Its doesn't look as nice as the bcn but prolly doesnt play any worse than the bcn would. (no way to compare playability pre-purchase of the both of them unfortunately - neither were fully setup for playing / testing in their respective showrooms - amateur ville - the ozzie pool table sales business)

Aussie tables like Master Billiards and Heiron & Smith.

I played on a Diamond at the guys house who imports them.

Worried about the unknown brands or counterfeits. Would prefer something like a Black Crown if getting something cheap.
To also find a proper installer will be difficult.

Hey RKC what do think of the Brunswick Centurion? Are they contracted well? I am assuming not to Diamond stature but probably better than the black crown 2. Thanks

There's a bar box in most pubs. "Pool comps" are common - but rules are not consistent and are never BIH for fouls.

Very few 'pool halls' AFAIK. (in NSW at least)

There is an aussie pool league though I believe - dont know much else except that it exists. (I'm just a home player - I hate the local 7ft coin-op tables with weighted cue ball & local pub rules)

There's snooker tables in most 'clubs' and an interclub 'snooker league' & 'billiards league' in my region. (Illawarra)

3 Cushion - I've never even seen a table... (but then again - I don't get out much - lol)

Diamond league played on 7 foot diamonds in Lidcombe. No more diamonds to my knowledge in Sydney.

You may find a tournament or two where they play but the general public plays UK Black Ball on pub tables. If you pick up the ball after a foul, people think you are making up rules.
Snooker is everywhere, majority of what are known as RSL clubs have at least 5 snooker tables which are free to play on for members.
Ive never seen 3 cushion here, but they play English Billiards, which has similarities to it, but on a snooker table.

Heiron & Smith - I've seen plenty of their snooker tables but didn't know they made american pool tables as well ? American style pockets ? (straight) or english (rounded) pockets ?
It aint a real pool table if the pockets aint straight imo ! (just a smaller sized snooker table)

Yep - do not use tablesport (Illawarra) - pretty sure ur not anywhere near there anyways. Clothing my rails is about the only thing I wouldn't be confident of doing better than they did - but everything else - sheesh. levelling slates, seaming slate & clothing bed - poor skills !

Yep - do not use tablesport (Illawarra) - pretty sure ur not anywhere near there anyways. Clothing my rails is about the only thing I wouldn't be confident of doing better than they did - but everything else - sheesh. levelling slates, seaming slate & clothing bed - poor skills !

Ive played on both rounded rounded pockets, which as you said is basically a smaller snooker table. But they make straight pockets as well, which my friend has one.

I played on the 9 foot diamond in Sydney and as its been mentioned, Lidcombe has the 7 footers with league pockets. Theres a few pubs and clubs that also have the 7 foot coin ops like the sports bar in the Star Casino. Theres only about 5 people in Australia that have the 9 foot table.

And you're not overly impressed by it by the sounds of it ?
Is it 9 foot ?
Has it got Simonis on it ?
Pockets to big or too small ? or is the shelf depth and/or pocket angles bad somehow ?
Rail performance poor somehow ?

They didn't have the slates levelled & joined at the seams nor did they have the rails bolted down when I looked at them (the bed & rails were clothed though ???) - therefore the rail performance was HORRIBLE - dead as dead can be.
But I was assured it will play great when setup !

Its frustrating to play on. The pockets are about 4.6 inches but it narrows down a lot through the deep shelf. If the ball hits inside the jaws at pace, it wont go in, so its hard to play position. Its an 8 foot table. Since I havent played on a proper table, its hard to form an informed opinion on the quality of the rails, it does seem inconsistent to me, but that could be a combination of me being crap, slate not being level, old cloth, dirty balls, etc.
No idea what cloth it is, but its no Simonis. When I played on the Diamond, it was fast compared to what Im used to since its napless.

Ive seen the BCN on the website, but not in real life. Ive seen many of these Brunswick 'copies'. The official Brunswick importer also sells a copy for about 4.5k, but they are all unknown quantities, so its a risk in getting one.

Damn that does sound crap indeed.
I researched pocket mouth dimensions before my purchase & physically measured / checked the product before buying. Sounds like ur mate didn't ?

Seems like one cant rely on a quality snooker table manufacturer like H&S to build a decent pool table. Surprising shame.
Supplying a 'pool table' with napped cloth (snooker cloth) is always a big red flag IMO.

The BCN tables were good as far as pocket dimensions etc. and they were going to supply me with 860 fitted, but I couldn't test the rail rubber / rail response for myself, so no sale for me from them

Fast cloth is easy to acheive / guarantee - purchase some 860 !
Rail response is another thing. That was my main concern with buying a cheapie & not being able to test properly beforehand.

Risk of what ?
If the brunswick copy importer has got a table fully set up - you can check / test everything ? and therefore eliminate alot of rhe risk ?

I guess over time a cheap copy may develop problems (rails coming loose, sagging frame etc. ?) and this cant be known at a pre purchase test / inspection I suppose ?

Fast cloth is easy to acheive / guarantee - purchase some 860 !
Rail response is another thing. That was my main concern with buying a cheapie & not being able to test properly beforehand.

Friend had no idea and after playing for a while you start to pick up on all the things wrong with the table.

Brunswick guys are in Melbourne and I dont even know if they have anything setup, plus you cant tell the longevity of counterfeits by just looking at it.
 
When you guys are throwing around huge 10k and 20k numbers, are you referring to USD or Australian dollars?

1000 USD = 1373 AUD
