Black Kamui Soft vs. Black Kamui Super Soft

I need someone who has played with both these tips to give me their opinion of the difference in playability between the two tips. I am thinking about installing them on a 1st gen pred shaft, and a low deflection regular maple shaft with a long pro taper. Any feedback would be apreciated.

I played with a ss kamui for a year and a half with no problems at all, had a soft put on and I'm not happy with it. I have also miscued with it a few times and never had that problem with the ss. Getting another ss put on at first chance.

The soft did not mushroom at all and held its shape very well. Played great and felt like a medium tip. I loved it when I first got it and thought it was the best tip I had ever played with. However, when the tip got alittle low, about four layers or so left before the dome it became extremely hard and did not hold chalk the same as when it was new.

The super soft mushroomed a little at first but once trimmed it did not mushroom again until it had many many hours of play. Played slightly softer than the soft, more like a medium soft tip. When it got low it didn't feel nearly as hard as the soft tip did and held chalk better.

I liked the ss better overall. I don't mind trimming the sides once or twice over the life of the tip. I felt that I didn't get as much life out of the soft tip due to how hard it became over time. So I needed a replacement sooner than I should have, and at the price I don't think it is worth it.

I used to play with the kbss until I tried the Adam franks milk dud and then I cut the other 3 brand new kbss's off my other shafts and put milk duds on them too. I can't believe I used to waste all that money on crappy tips. The pooldawg milk duds are good too but take a little more to break in and don't put as much spin on the ball. Triangles are pretty decent too! From $3-$6.50 a tip any of these tips are way better than kamui and 1/10 to 1/5 the price!

I tested Kamui Soft and Kamui SS on each of my shafts (and also on Test Shafts).
If you are looking for a really soft tip, you choice should be the SuperSoft from Kamui. The Kamui Soft is in my opinion a bit softer than a medium hard tip. If it s about reaction (spin etc) i didn t really see much difference. Both are very good tips.
Kamui Soft once installed, trimmed, shaped- no work on it needed afterwards til now.
Kamui Super Soft: 2 of my students had never to work on it again after trimming and shaping it after install-- I for myself shaped it once again after 2 days and from then it stays in shape perfectly.

A super soft plays like a old soft morri. The soft plays like a medium morri

I would agree with this. I used to be a Kamui guy until Pete Tascarella goofed on me for buying a $20 tip. He said, "I can give you a tip for 35 cents that will give you all the control you need". He uses Le Pros on his cues. I'm glad I listened to him.
They are awesome and I can't see myself ever going back.

Thanks, I'm a huge believer in the Moori Soft tips but was thinking about moving to Kamui's, especially the SS. Did you like the old Moori's? Which would you recommend between the Kamui SS or the Moori Soft?

I thought the milk duds played stiffer than soft tips (more like mediums)?

I have used both and prefer the Kamui black soft. The super soft mushroomed a small amount but felt to soft for me. I went to the black soft and like it a lot, feels very similar to the original moori mediums. It does not seem to mushroom at all other than that I do my usual tip pik once in a while and run the ultimate tip tool over it occasionally. All this is relevant to my playing time which in the summer is less frequent than the other seasons of the year..

Guido Orlandi was telling me at the state tournament why these tips were for suckers but I can't remember what exactly he said. I think it was something about the durometer readings and how inconsistent they were.

Kamui is the best..

Kamui back ss is springy(almost like its rubber), also as stated prior,it will shroom @ 1st,but after its trimmed once ,it wont do it again..

The kamui black soft is like a medium style tip ,similar hit to kamui brown med, moori med, talismen brown med, difference is kamui black soft wont shroom ,and holds chalk well ,when tips scuffed ..

If kamui black soft glazes over ,it will miscue sometimes, even when chalked, but one tip scuff goes a long way with kamui black tips...

If you have a very, very, stiff shaft, Id recommend the kamui black ss, but if it's only as stiff as ,lets say a 314-2, Id say kamui black soft is the better choice.. Jmho.. Good Luck..
