Bleacher Refs MR Cup

Be a good idea to have a referee or two workin' the crowd during match play to control alcoholic actions.
Often feels like a 8 ball bar league night playing against the wrong team.

I agree, but I'd recommend one ref in the crowd.
Arena is so well lit....
The floor ref, can't SEE the crowd....
Ref, in the bleachers in the dark.... that'll give him a heads up.... of what's evolving.
It can't hurt, because it seems like.... there's Always One idiot in a full pool room or it wouldn't be pool.

I watched highlights, so if there's a railbird squawking....
Then.... it's less noticeable, not listening to the full production squawk. :)

I was actually going to ask if they were selling alcohol at the M C. When I was at the Crucible for the snooker championships in England a larger portion of the crowd were drunk. There was even a fight a few rows away from me. One big Irish SOB even threw a beer at a bunch of people.

In general when I was in England and various pubs I discovered English people don't really fight. They'll get into screaming matches and up in each other's faces but nobody ever throws a punch. In the US you hardly say anything and the guy pulls out a knife and sticks it in you.

WHat I see a lot in situations where alcohol is involved is the hiring of off duty police officers. They can arrest if they deem it appropriate.

Unruly and illegal are different things, until they aren't.

Thx Bob I didn't know that.
Never knew MR trained their security teams to work effectively with the floor referee.
The security people and ushers and ticket takers and such are all venue staff or temps. I think there are around 50 in total. They are not permanent employees of Matchroom. Similarly, Matchroom does not produce the stream. For the MC, I think it was Sky Sports.

i think the masters in snooker has traditionally been the worst in terms of drunkenness and tribalism. the scottish and foreign players got a lot of abuse. stephen hendry handled it by winning the damn thing. ding junhui started crying. the masters is much, much better now. the snooker event with rowdy crowd now is the shootout, it's kind of like the mosconi cup but it's not a team event

Ok, I just thought security would ref the bleachers.
Seeing the referee doing this then made me think, not one else helped.
