BLUDWORTH vs DIAMOND vs BALLSTAR BALL CLEANERS

The Diamond is one of those purchases you make once and never, ever regret. No one who owns one has anything negative to say about it. It's a piece of furniture that cleans your balls. What else can you ask for? Of course it's expensive to ship. It's heavy. Couches are expensive to ship too.
A padded cover that doubles as a seat...? I bet the double platter would make a killer bench for people to sit on when not being used for it's main use....lol

Ballstar, cleans clockwise, then polishes counter clockwise, really? 😅🤣😂
Actually yes... really. Go to youtube and watch how it works. It does one cycle applying cleaner during the entire cycle, then it reverses. At that point, the applicator for the cleaning solution closes and the balls are dried and polished. It's really a smart idea. What I would REALLY like to see is a dirty 16 ball set with 1/2 cleaned in the diamond and 1/2 cleaned in the Ballstar and see if there is any difference. It honestly seems the Ballstar would be superior for VERY dirty pool balls because of the long exposure to the cleaning solution, but I have no way to test that theory.

I would suggest you re-evaluate bludworth in your review
I have one for almost 10 years and my pool room uses one also
does a terrific job
The Bludworth website is very poor. There is very little information. Also, in the group I am looking at, it is the most expensive when shipping is added. I have never seen one in person but here and elsewhere it is described as a plastic bucket cleaner with a better design. Here, in the forums, I have heard everything from it's WONDERFUL to it destroyed my pool balls. Also, I feel the Chinese knockoff at Alibaba is now probably about the same thing for 1/2 the price. As the result of this reasoning, I just threw out the MOST expensive and LEAST expensive and went with the 3 in the middle.

I have never heard ANYTHING negative about Diamond, and the only thing I have ever heard about Ballstar that was even REMOTELY negative was that it didn't clean as well, but that is subjective unless someone provides a side by side test (and I wish they would). The CleanGleem is relatively unknown. I have managed to contact two people who own and use a CG and they are both VERY pleased with it. but the video of it running looks less effective to me. That may or may not be the case in person.

I had a Diamond polisher for years and now have the Bludworth unit. Both work very well but the Bludworth runs smoother and quieter with less vibration and shaking.

What led you to get the Bludworth and get rid of the diamond? You are the first I have ever heard with a Diamond who left the cult! :-)

All just different flavors of the same icecream. I recently sold my crockpot style Ballstar. I had a set of dingy Centennials I sold with it that hadn't been cleaned in years and were put up dirty. In one cycle they were cleaned to a mirror finish. It was truly impressive. I could never achieve a shine like that in a week's worth of manual effort.

I'm sure the Diamond or Bludworth would achieve similar results. You're going to spend several hundred regardless. All that truly matters in the end is support and how it looks.

This is truly a Ford/Chevy/Dodge debate where for some it's mine good, yours bad. They will all do what you want them to do.

I have a Bludworth and I replaced the pad and felt around the balls. Along with the Bludworth polish I can’t imagine anything doing better.
Bludworth carries a documented risk!

What happened is he failed to maintain his Diamond ball polisher correctly, then blamed its operation on the machine and not himself.

In what world is he living in that the Bloodworth runs quieter and smoother than a Diamond unit😅🤣

I’ve had a Bludworth for 25+ years. Works great as long as the tray / lid doesn’t pop up during usage, which will ruin a set of balls. I learned my lesson on this more than once.

Even though it has a latch on it, it doesn’t always work, so I have learned to firmly keep my hand on the knob on top of the tray to insure keeping the tray down while in operation. This is necessary to prevent the tray from quite possibly popping up, in which case the balls fly all over the place and are potentially scarred/ ruined.

This hasn’t happened to me in probably close to 20 years, but it happened to me a few weeks ago - I slipped up and left it unattended just for a matter of seconds and that’s all it took. I had to order two new Brunswick centennial replacement balls at $20+ apiece to replace the virtually new balls that were ruined. I guess that’s the main reason I broke down and placed my order for a Diamond 16 ball polisher last week.

Until it arrives, other than the fact that I can’t do anything other than stay there and hold the knob down for a few minutes for each set, and replacing the felt pads about once a year, the Bludworth polisher works great.

What needs to be done to the Diamond? Thanks

Even though it has a latch on it, it doesn’t always work, so I have learned never to let go of the knob on the lid while in operation. It’s kind of a pain, as I can’t do anything else while I’m polishing the balls. Other than that, and replacing the felt pads about once a year, it works great.
Thanks for the reply I appreciate you sharing your experience

Just used, nothing special, other than NOT using the Arimuth ball cleaning solution in ANY motorized ball polisher, it builds up like clay, destroying the carpeting while doing so. The Diamond polisher CAN'T cause ANY damage to the balls period!

I guess it's got to be keeping the carpet un gunked.. as in, if you're using solution often, you need to wash the carpet often as well
Almost 10 years later and the Diamond polisher is still the best.
What I have seen on videos is that almost everyone in these videos uses far too much polish. I saw one guy put the equivalent of about a 2" stripe of polish on each ball!! The clue that you are using too much polish is that the balls will virtually stop spinning until some of the polish is dispersed into the matting. When I clean mine I put a single small drop on every other ball. If the balls were very recently polished but I just vacuumed my table I will throw the balls in for 5 minutes to just touch them up without using any polish. I have 3 sets of balls that I keep looking like new, my bottle of Aramith polish has lasted 6 years so far and I expect it will last me at least another 6 years.

I put a drop or two on the spinning balls, every 2 or 3 rounds through.

You're high.

Look at the nose of the cushions and the pocket facings where the balls hit. Do you see that brown shade build up? That the transferiing of the wax compiling compound from the balls to the cloth, and that equals friction build up.

So would you recommend the Ballstar liquid cleaner sprayed on? Or the 1Tbsp to 1 cup Aramith to Alcohol mixture as a spray? What do you recommend as a cleaning agent to maximize the life of the platter, side wall and sprocket carpet?
