Okay....there I was....minding my own business, filling the gas tank and picking up a Power Bar for breakfast (too lazy to cook this morning). I'm at the counter and, on a whim, get 5 scratch-off tickets to pass the time while my boy's watching his Blues Clues DVD.......

...and low-and-behold.....

....I won 500 BUCKS!!!!!!!!!

Aside from a crappy stuffed animal at the Indy county fair (1984, I believe), I've never "won" anything in my life....much less MONEY!! :D :D

I call the wife to tell her about our new found riches...and she replies (without skipping a beat), that I should use the money to buy a cue! She then proceeds to tell me that she was so proud of the fact that I sold off my collection to take care of our family responsibilities, that she want's me to use the money to buy a nice cue for myself. No sooner does she complete the sentence, I had images of my hunt for a BlueGrass player's cue from a few months ago.

Between the budget I knew I could afford yesterday, and my good fortune this morning, I can swing getting into a BlueGrass. Low Key, well made, plays fantastic (from what I hear), and VERY much reachable now.

To that end.....My search for a Coker is now history.....I'M ON THE HUNT FOR A RICHARD HARRIS player's cue. BEM, Cocobola, Ebony....I'm equal opportunity!!!!

Please hit me up with a PM if you have one....Thanks, all! I'm gonna get back to smiling like an idiot now!!! :) :)

ya might want to try for another winner because i don't think your gonna find a players blue grass for under a dime.i should know,i just found on 2 weeks ago.later and good luck.

bluegrass

If you find someone selling a Bluegrass for $500 do tell, b/c Im going to offer them $600 for it.

I agree, I don't think you are going to find one for less than 1K.

Good luck with your search

I should clarify....

I had a budget of around 400-ish before my windfall. Add the 500 to that from this morning's stroke of luck...and I'm right in the range for a nice BlueGrass cue.

1000 is my target price, give or take a smidge!

Thanks guys....sorry if I wasn't very clear before about it.....must be the rush taking hold!!!!! :)

JUST TO SHOW HOW NUTS THIS DAY'S BEEN SO FAR.....HERE'S A PIC OF THE HOUSE GUEST I FOUND ON OUR BACK DECK ABOUT 30 MINUTES AGO!!!!!

It's not so much the amount that matters most....it's that tiny little feeling of STICKING IT to the man!! :)

Congrats on your win, Chris! 3 bucks is STILL 3 bucks more than you had the day before!!!

Still giggling like a kid,

hahaha.. this post just made me laugh uncontrollable for a few seconds..lol..

i was thrilled.. one time i was walking through a parking lot with a friend, and he stopped and picked up a DICKS sporting goods gift card... looked like somebody discarded it after they used it all up.. it deffinatly was sitting in the lot for a couple days.. we got back to home, so i said..lets see that card.. i called the 800 number on the back to check and see if there was a credit left.. UNBELIEVABLE... 37 dollar credit.. i guess it wa shis turn to be lucky that day..haha..

really though.. most of my luck is in pool.. i am the preverbial KING OF THE BAD LEAVE! playing straight pool, i can miss the break shot terribly bad and leave the oppenent with no shot.. i dubbed it the INFAMOUS SAFTEY BREAK...

sometimes i feel bad i leave people such bad leaves.. and then when they complain, i just get a little laugh..hehe..

My buddy must've taken some lessons from ya!!! This last trip I was on, I talked him into hitting the pool halls almost every evening we were free. The man has picked up a cue MAYBE 10 times in his whole life....but throughout the course of that trip, he left me worse than ANY guy I've ever played.....EVER!

He just had "the talent" for it. The only word I can use to describe it is "UNCANNY."

Thanks, Mark.

I'll drop him a line, too.

You are in luck. I spoke with a friend who has one and would like to sell. BEM, linen, 1 shaft, 13mm, block rings etc., dead straight and recently refinished from Richard. Cue was made in 93 and plays great. $725 shipped.

:) :) :)

I didn't even really get the irony of the snake until just now, Joe!! :)

It is a rat snake (or corn snake....pretty much the same type of colubrid). I used to keep these as pets when I was in school.....I must've had 15-20 of 'em, total.

Took me by suprise when I saw him wrapped around the latticework on my back deck. I'm pretty close to a highly populated area outside of D.C.....I figured they'd have made their way further south. But, I do sit on a semi-wooded 3/4 acre....so who knows?

Funny......the only snakes I've seen around D.C. are the ones working 9-5 at the Pentagon!!! :)
