Bluegrass cues,hit & value?

Would love to have one. Never tried one, but know Richard Harris has a impeccable reputation and they are known for how well they play and build quality. My guess on wait time is, try to find one already built. Value, I can only see them going up, personally. Shooter08

How does Bluegrass cue plays, is it holding its value?

How long is waiting time?

I've owned two, the first I brought and second a ended up thru a trade. I wasn't a fan of the hit, seemed to play a little thin on the hit. I know that doesn't translate well and hit is a very subjective thing..., have said that the build quality has first class and the design has very nice too.

I can't speak to the waiting time as all the Bluegrass cues I bought were second hand. But I checked the cues with Richard each time and he was very responsive and very nice about discussing tips. He even sent me a free Bluegrass hand towel. I enjoyed how Bluegrass cues played, similar to a SW, but stiffer. I moved into a Sugartree, B. Szam, Searing, and BB. For the value, hit, woods, and finish, Bluegrass cues play great and I'd highly recommend them. Sugartrees play similar but with a thinner butt and stiffer shaft, although Eric isn't as accessible as Richard. Good luck and hope you get the chance to enjoy a Bluegrass!

He’s not really taking orders to my knowledge.

The woods, workmanship, and quality are all first class. He can get fancy but prefers not to.

I had an ebony sneaky Pete that I sold to free up funds for a new road bike. Played great. He has a stash of nice creamy Micarta for ferrules.

The SW style taper and micarta ferrules make for a stiff, crisp hit, at least on my cue.

He will not cut the shaft thinner than 12.75, so if you find a cue with a shaft skinnier than that, it’s been worked on.

Richard is also a very strong player, FWIW.

I got with him about a cue several (4 or 5) years ago and it’s on schedule for this year. When I first contacted him he said something to the effect of “don’t get in a rush, it’ll be a while.”
