BlueGrass with a new Stack Leather Wrap

ranger, why in the world would you let mueller touch a bluegrass cue?? that's like taking a ferrari to jiffy lube or wiping your'e butt then taking a poop,it just doesn't make sense.
That cue is absolutely gorgeous! I love Bluegrass cues and that wrap looks fantastic.
Obviously Ryan knows what he's doing.

First,

Ryan/Mueller,

Nice work!

Second,

Jim,

First off, you are an idiot! You bash pern for implying something about only sending a cue to the cuemaker who made the cue, but then you say you would send NEARLY any cue to Ryan for work. What gives? Why not all cues?
Pern is not saying Ryan does subpar work, from the looks of things, he matched the stacked leather wrap color pretty well. Pern is just saying why would you send a cue to anyone other than the original maker of the cue. That is not a bash on Ryan at all! Truth be know, I sure it was sent to Mueller was b/c Richard (actually Donna) does not do stacked leather wraps! Enough said!
You guys need to quit being such nits and jump to conclusions and let a man voice his opinion!

Feel free to bash me too...I'm just a troll that won't be around these forums long!:D

The way your previous post was worded certainly implied that Mueller's did substandard work. I would send nearly any cue to Ryan to work on, with the exception of very few cuemakers. The cue's he's building, the quality he is constantly putting out, and the shear number of resources available to him BECAUSE he works for Mueller's, may make him arguably the best in the business for cue repair. I've never heard one complaint about him from people who have USED his service.

Before you start bad mouthing one of our long time members and contributors to this forum you may want to get all of your facts and actually have some experience with the service. You've been here a month and have all of 8 posts and one of them is this, your time will be short here.

This is bash on Mueller's and Ryan, the way I read it. Yes, I would send nearly any cue to Ryan. I wouldn't send Szamboti, Spain or GB to Ryan. He does exceptional work. From the pics he did an exceptional job on this Bluegrass.

I'm not going to bash you, you're the one resorting to name calling...

OK - first of all, just about every major & collectible make of cue has come through the shop of Troy Downey & Ryan Theewan. There needs to be a distinction between Mueller's worldwide mail order business, and what goes on in the cue shop. This is not a team of 9 guys churning out 2500 cues a year. No automated mills turning 5 shafts at a time, and no conveyor spray finishing system that does 100 cues a day. Ryan has been doing cue work for over 10 years, and Troy for double that! To diminish what these guys do, because of what you think you know, is despicable. Hypothetically, would you have the stones to come out and bash Bill Stroud if you found out his shop was in the basement of, say, Sears & Roebuck? Hell no! So don't go badmouthing someone's livelihood when you do not have a clue! Mueller's SELLS the cues, they don't MAKE the cues. Anybody that wants to challenge me on this post, I will personally take you on a tour of the facilities so you can see for yourself!

Andy - I will have Troy contact you in regards to the cue. He tries to stay off the phone so he can focus on the cues! I encourage anyone going to Valley Forge to stop by and see Troy's work.

my time will be short here why because i exspressed an opinion and you don't agree ? to bad,i don't have experiance with his service says who? probably worded it wrong but i am a gambler not an english major. i would gladly send a production cue to ryan just not a custom cue from an elite maker. if you want to run me out for exspessing an opinion on a forum in witch i am a member then do it or forget about it. the choice is yours

You certainly are entitled to an opinion, but if you go back and read your post, hopefully it will sink in. You went pretty far to make a point, so since reputations are now at stake, back up your statement by telling all of us how Ryan and Troy wronged you....

i believe i have said twice no make that three times now that if i had a production cue i would not hesitate to send it to ryan to have work done. however if i had a cue made by what i would consider an elite cue maker that person would be the only person that i would let repair/alter the cue.

Fair enough - but choose your wording and analogies carefully in the future. When you make incendiary comments with the intent to stir the pot, be careful, you may get what you wish for...

Wow!!

Just sharing some pics, didn't want this to get out of control. Truth be known, Gut shot is right on. Since Richard doesn't do stacked leather, Ryan was an easy choice for me as he was highly recommended. If you feel this de-values the cue any, don't worry, it's not for sale. Just wanted to share some fine work done for me. Thanks for looking,

Eric

Hopefully I can clear this up and then let this thread go back to its intended purpose of showing the cue.

1. pern13; you are correct. The best person to work on a custom cue is the maker himself. I have said that over and over but saying "that's like taking a ferrari to jiffy lube or wiping your'e butt then taking a poop,it just doesn't make sense." That's a bit offensive to me but I'm a big boy and can handle it.

2. I work on cues that range from $20 to $20K on any given day. I treat them all like they are worth their weight in gold. Most often, the guy with the $20 cue is more attached and sentimental about the cue.

3. I don't care what type of cue you personally play with as long as you are playing pool. This is a great sport that can be played by anyone, any age, any level, and doesn't discriminate.

4. I love my job and wake every day excited about it. It poses different challenges and opportunities that I couldn't experience in any other field.

5. I take pride in my shop and everyone is welcome.

6. Take this thread back to what it was intended. Look at his cue. He is proud and happy with the work and it shouldn't be important who did it and where.
