No gun is safe in a house with kids...safety or not. Thats why I have a gun safe thats as big as a Coke machine.

I have 2 of those, I always thought they were for cues???:-D :-D

The only way a gun is safe around children is if its locked in a safe.

I think the kids need to know about them and also be educated.

I take it very seriously too. I'm at the range 2-3 times a month. I always have a pistol on me...I'd rather carry it everyday & not need it...than need it & not have it!!!

True dat!

And I meant what I said about "safe"...I did not mean reliable. The best safety for any firearm is between your ears. Don't put your finger on the trigger until its time to shoot. Many experts and firearm company's agree with me. Thats why the hottest thing in law enforcement firearms is DAO. Double action only. Just like a revolver...pull the trigger and BANG. No safety's to mess with. Look at Sig's new DAk trigger...no safety or decocker. None of my pistols have a safety...thats the way I want it. And they are all loaded with one in the chamber. Pick up any of mine...pull the trigger...bang. The only time I agree a pistol should have a safety is a 1911 style pistol that is carried with one in the pipe and the hammer cocked. Again though it all goes back to proper training...keep finger off trigger.

Well, try the P7M8 Some day, I feel 100% safe laying it with 1 in the chamber on my coffee table with my niece and nefew over. I can pick it up and blow off 3-4 rounds without thinking and if they pick it up they just can't do it, no trigger lock needed, no safe.

> Of all the handguns I've had access to,including Springfield (non-XD),Sig,SW,Colt,Wilson Tactical,Para-Ordinance,Les Baer and Glock, the Glock feels best in my hand and gets me the best results. I have been drilled time and again about rule #1 of general gun safety, and thankfully have never had an accidental discharge. When it comes time to shoot, unless it is moving very quickly, anything within 20 feet gets hit. Jimbo,I will agree with you on the 18,it IS a beast, good thing Glock distributors make it so hard to get those,I'm sure cops don't want to face the ballistic equivalent of a M249 SAW in such a small package. I've never shot one,but have seen one in person, the local guy that does the CCW training and certification has a nice collection, including a Barretta 93R,a slightly larger version of the 92F with a finger grip ahead of the trigger guard and a 3 round burst/full auto selector. He also has an MP5,a Barrett M82A1,and an Accuracy International L96A1,he shoots the Barrett and the L96A1 in long distance competitions. Tommy D.
